Testing EP4 pantograph fitting. I’m using a Kato pan in the front (on right) and a Bachmann pan in the rear. The pans are close enough in appearance that the differences won’t be noticeable after the model is finished and the rear equalized pan is raised. Since the front pan will remain lowered, the more economical Kato pan is sufficient up front. With three reverse loops, the electrics always will run forward other than during motive power changes in New Haven.

I’ve sent the side screens artwork to PPD for etching, and the digital mechanism frame to Xometry for 3D-metal printing. The goal is to finish the model in time for the NSE Bethlehem convention in June.

Finished up one of two Fine N Scale PRR X29 kits. The model features proper PRR 2D-F12 coil elliptic trucks with ESM wheelsets.

It's a B&B kind of night on the CSX Hanover Subdivision.  Bridge and ballasting.  A couple feet every night....

Basic Layout work. Got the track working a little better. This layout was done with Peco 55 so had to add some wheel drop shims in the frogs.



Then some detail painting of the tracks. Uh… for refrence I did this last Saturday… into Thursday
First a drybrush of a blue gray over the ties. Picked out a few with burnt umber and khaki. Then went nuts with Pan pastels, a final flat coat toned it all down.

That makes a big difference.  My friend (he also used Peco electrofrogs) also shimmed the inner sides of the guardrails to reduce the width of the flangeways for improved tracking (since Peco flangeways are bit on a wide side.

Another idea would be to use black styrene in the future. While you'll likely paint the frog inserts to match the rail color, the flanges will eventually wear the paint off.  With black styrene the exposed areas would not be as visible as white.  Evergreen sells black styrene sheets.

Wednesday - ripped out a niche in the bathtub wall that was not fitting right, filled the hole with leftover wall board.
Thursday - sealed the new wall section
Friday - put the first row of tiles up
Saturday - Record Store Day and going to attempt to fish tiling.
Sunday - work and recovery

Making some slow progress on my Morristown & Erie, one scene at a time.  Here is a photo (probably a video frame) I took in 2012, showing M&E 18 picking up corn sweetener cars from B&G Foods in Roseland NJ.  In the following photos I used M&E 19 to make a similar pickup from my B&G Foods at the end of my M&E layout.  The photos aren't the sharpest, but that could be a good thing, lol.  Still lots to do on this section, but good fun.
