@dcarrell8 I was cruising through some random NGSL Gazettes I’ve had in storage for a while here this evening and I have found out a John Hitzeman wrote a multi installment story called Ore Processing; A Modelers perspective, starting in the May/June 1984 issue. I only have the Jan/Feb 1985 article describing chutes and bins with detailed drawings (not to scale) that is very informative, but I’d hazard a guess and assume the rest of the installments are as good. May be worth looking into:

Thanks for the information, I'll see what I can't find.

I've pretty much decided that I will recreate Lowell Ross's build from the 2003 Jan/Feb NGSG and tweak as needed for my layout.  I'm not entirely sure what the tweaks will need to be yet but I'm sure it will involve scenery, and how it interfaces with the  track.

Well, this is what I've got so far.  I'm fairly pleased with the mock-up, I have a much better understanding of what NOT to do once I start on the real thing.  The mock-up will likely be in place for a while unless I feel particularly motivated to start work on the real thing.

Looks great Dennis.  I know it's just a mock up but on the front wall of the long slopped part of the building housing the milling equipment, you want to put doors not windows.  That's where your track should be and the doors allow moving the milled concentrate out of the building and into the cars.  Some mills bagged the concentrate and others just loaded it straight into the cars in two piles over each truck.

There's a prototype for everything.
If you can't make it perfect, make it adjustable.

Thanks Scott, I always appreciate your input!

Where and how the cars will be loaded will depend on the geography.  That very important part of the build is yet to be determined, along with the "history" of the mine.  The Three Aspens Mine which is the blue print for this mock-up had an entire different ore bin on a lower level that the ore was trolleyed to by mine cart.

I won't know for certain until I have set the distance between the upper track and lower track.  That will determine how I build the mountain around the mill.  Right now it's more about the depth and width of the build.  Height, and where the cars will load/unload will come after/during track work.
