Something New To Me From The UP

Most of you may have seen this already, but on my way home from church today I was taking a quick look into CSX's Wadsford Yard in Evansvill, IN and saw what looked to be a brand new or recently painted UP boxcar with the reporting mark and numbers in the upper lefthand corner and the UP shield center right at the top of the car. I assume this is to prevent both from being covered up with "tagging". I was just wondering if this new only to the UP or if it's going to be a new industry standard?

This appears to be a new standard. I’ve photographed TTX and GATX cars with the same setup.

Here's a clean UP I caught in Billings of Cheyenne.

And a tagged one here in springs with a TTX car too.

And the same train (speaking of tagging).

I saw one of there in town (Cedar Rapids) a few weeks ago. Personally I like the UP yellow cars, but it does seem a little naked without the 'automated rail way' logo.

And the same train (speaking of tagging).

This is why I'm happy to model the 80's. I find the graffiti to be depressing... the mass destruction of private property is backpedaling from a civilizational perspective  :(

Yep, I won't buy "tagged" cars.

One part of today's reality in railroading that I will not model.
A "western modeler" that also runs NS.
