I am experiencing some mechanical problems with a Kato N scale  NW2 locomotive.  I have located the problem and need to order a part(s) from Kato USA, But the online parts catalog is down (Under Construction).  I have searched the internet for the parts diagram, but have been unable to locate one.   Does anybody have a parts diagram for a Kato N scale NW2 locomotive that they could share with Me?  I would appreciate any help provide

I would call Kato directly and they can help you and take your order right then if they have what you need in stock.

What part do you need? Can you post a photo?

Lemme guess the spur gear is slipping on the shaft?

Yes, the spur gear is slipping on the shaft.
Actually the shaft moves back and forth.

It has been so long, but I thought this was a common problem. Were folks just gluing it in place?

Yes, that is a known problem for that model. One of the few Kato sub-par designs.

I don't recall if the gear actually cracks, then slips, or it is still intact, but starts slipping in the shaft?

Also I don't think Kato ever issued a parts diagram for that (and many other models).  For some newer models, diagram PDF files are on their website.

I sure wish they would show some parts diagrams.
Can not believe they took the parts replacement pages down before having something to replace them.
I guess replacement sales do not generate too much cash flow?
Now we have not a thing - was going to be up by MAY- now it is by the end of summer when ever that might be.

I submitted an article on this to N-Scale Mag years ago on this, but they never published it.
Too boring I guess.

Or it might be that I called this a design flaw.

I can't recall...was there a street fix for this?

I have 3 of these but, so far, no issues.

I think, Chris, you were among those gluing them in place. Here is a note on your solution (from a thread about the Bachmann version, but there is discussion of the Kato problem starting with postings on January 10, 2014)

EDIT- I thought that link would point to message #28 in that thread, but it goes to the top of the page  (at least on my browser)- so scroll down to #28.

EDIT- here is another recommendation from the same thread-

Per above, scroll down to message #33
