I did find it interesting that of the almost 300 that the SP had, the listed road numbers are early ones.
I'm guessing they'll do a lot more road numbers down the road. Look at how many UP and BNSF Gevos they've done.
I'd personally like at least a half dozen SP AC4400CWs for my layout.

My only beef is that three SP road numbers in the as-delivered scheme is not enough! (146 with the logo on the inverter cabinet was extremely short-lived, and is not for me).

I need five or six. I've emailed sales @ scaletrains.com to ask for more (I've already voted with my pre-order wallet as much as possible with the current SP and UP as-delivered road numbers).

Cheers!

Especially since the HO first run came with 6 numbers, and the later two "phases". 270 and 350 was the other numbers they did. ST does the same numbers be it HO or N. Like you, was disappointed in the lack of the other two numbers too, since majority of the time these were ran as trio's.

Broadest market capture I presume.

177 was renumbered/repainted into yellow 12/7/15 to UP 6252
199 was renumbered/repainted into yellow 4/10/12 to UP 6147

Neither was patched prior to repaint.

I wasn't referring to those numbers specifically, I was referring to the fact that ST should have had numbered units that DID have a patch.

I think this run is locos that never got patched. And note the yellow battery box cover on 177 too, so it's clearly intended as a UP unit that made it to the finish line without a patch.  I'm quite sure they'll do another run that is patched.

I love the SP AC4400's.  I'm very tempted to buy a couple of the as-new paint job.  I worked on the 8th floor of an office building in downtown Wichita Falls, TX overlooking a small Burlington Northern (soon to be BNSF) yard in 1995 when these SP units made their debut.   A couple of sets were quickly assigned to a joint BN-SP coal train that frequented the line, and I would see the shiny brand-new SP units at least once a week it seemed.

This would be a good time for @MTLJoe to make one of the CSX fuel tenders that went with those '90s AC4400CW's.

Only 29 and 30 got that tender and it did not last long.

On the bright side, there is a company that has some really great GP30 design work that could be brought to N scaleā€¦ https://www.scaletrains.com/ho-scale/ho-scale-locomotives/rivet-counter-ho-scale-emd-gp30.html

Hopefully my Super Toaster orders can fund the investment in bringing this to N scale.

Peace out

I wish I could justify one of these.  The CP ones are nice and were the mainstay of operations for a long time.
