Any interest in the Gilpin ore cars? They are tiny! I could give it a try in 3D.

I have a HUGE interest in those Gilpin cars if you undertake that @Chris333 I am in. Let me know if you need any design help.

Great progress @Dave V I wanted to let you know I have and still have trouble finding the OO9 small radius Peco turnouts. I have seen them shipping from the UK for as much as $45/switch. Finding them is just really tough. I tend to look at eBay for the model number St-405 st-406 I think it is. Anyway just wanted to warn you and see if we can crowdsource some better places to get them.

I mean, yeah, it seems like you kinda have to get them from the UK. Another reason to taper my layout down to just five turnouts total!

I had an epiphany last night. The new layout is going to have a whiskey theme. The main town will be Scotch Creek (the name of a real creek in Colorado, BTW). Other locations on the layout will include Bourbon Butte, Rye Gulch, and so on.

"The Manhattan Mining Co."

Need a name for the railroad... Thinking something involving Whiskey River, or Scotch Creek & Western or something.

Oh, and I *have* to do this:

Yabut wasn't ore bagged into sacks, wheeled out a door and stacked into boxcars

Yes it was. Some stamp mills did have covered loading docks, though.

Hmmm.  Those names are too proper, IMO.  Perhaps "Moonshine--something"?  Moonshine Creek [or Ridge, or Hill, other topographical feature] & Western?

I mean, moonshine isn't whiskey, but I may have to name it something not whiskey-related.

True.  My thought process was "What's the most back-woods adult beverage out there that would fit a western mountain theme"?

I was desperate for ideas, browsing lists of "funny" and "unusual" Wild West town names when I had the idea to look at the game map for Red Dead Redemption II. There are some really, really cool names on that map that scream Wild West.

I think I'm gonna ditch the "whiskey" them and go back to basics...something that sounds like it came from a Western.

Welcome to "Satan's Taint."

In all seriousness, though, I have a few ideas percolating.

How about "Happiness", paying homage to a Twilight Zone episode?
Or "Willoughby", or "Harmony" (other Twilight Zone references)?

Nah... I mean I watched Twihlight Zone with my Dad back in the day but I can't say I remember more than a few episodes and it's not really "my" thing, ya know?

The Lago reference from High Plains Drifter is more my scene (Clint Eastwood) except that I can't watch that movie anymore now that I understand the rape scene. When I watched it as a kid I guess I didn't "get it" on a level I do today.

Also love "Old Stump" from A Million Ways to Die in the West. Something along those lines would work great.

I'm assuming Dr. Hotballz would have a practice in such an abode?

I should have thought of this sooner, but had you continued with the whiskey theme, the tag line for the railroad should be something like "Serving Colorado on the Rocks."
