Package from Hog Trainz a "Huge Surprise". No it did not contain one or two KATO Big Boys. It was locomotives I had forgotten I had reserved in the past. An A-B set of KATO Union Pacific F-7 locomotives , and an A-B set of KATO SP Black Widow painted F-7's. All of these are equipped with Loc Sound Decoders. They look great. I can't wait to run them on the Wasatch N Scale Layout  at the March Hostlers Train Show in Ogden. Nate Goodman. (Nato).

Was there not a SP/UP exchange yard nearby a sugar silo facility in Salt Lake City ? I remember seeing Black Widow switchers in pic's there during the late steam and early turbine era ... 1958 ish .

One drawback to the current advanced reservation system, or a benefit if you like surprise "gifts." I wonder how many people have bought model railroad products and forgotten they reserved them? I remember Hog Trainz having to unreserve something a while back because most of the credit cards used for the reservations had expired between the reservation deadline and delivery of the product.

As long as the manufacturers are taking so very long to produce the models, this will remain a problem. I know I have an outstanding reservation from December of 2018 for Atlas GP20 locos. It sucks.

Shop I work at sees this all the time.  A long ago pre-order comes in finally, we call to find bad phone numbers, expired credit cards, customers moved, customers expired.

The longest I've dealt with was HO scale tractors announced by Athearn, announced 13 years ago delivered in 2022.  People that did their PO that we were able to contact couldn't remember ordering them, but 95% still took the orders.  What didn't get claimed were sold in less than a week.

Me too.  Thought they might finally arrive and I guess they got sent back for mfg issues.

I have Trainworx and Intermountain reservations dating back to April 2018.  Nothing earlier because my previous dealer went out of business!

The current newsletter from Rapido Trains has an in depth discussion about Pre Orders and other related items.          Nate Goodman . (Nato). Salt Lake, Utah.

My problem is that I forget who I preordered something from and can't get back with them to find out what is going on with the order. Also can be bad when you suddenly get a charge you weren't expecting.

I keep an Excel spreadsheet with all pre-orders and possible pre-orders.  Helps me plan costs and makes me think if I really need something or not.
