New Bachmann N Steam
« on: February 01, 2023, 04:54:25 PM »

There was a report of Bachmann having their next N steam loco at the show but the reporter didn't get to see it or talk to anybody about it.  Did anybody take pictures of the test shots and/or talk to the Bachmann staff about it?
One off the Bachmann social media outlets had a photo of the upcoming operating horse stock car.  A mod of the 1967 era 40' livestock car.

The only steam I've seen them talk about are the reruns of existing models.  And I didn't see anything in their recent online catalog. But hopefully you are right, and their is something new on the way.

As to the "horse stock car"- here is what they have up on FB-

From what I read here, I think the "operating" will be limited to heads of various animals poking out of the window areas now and then.  I suppose one could somehow mix this with the BLI "noisy" stock cars to produce various humorous amalgamations.

Next, I imagine, we will see a wind up N scale locomotive to pull it.

I don't know what catalog I was looking at where I saw steam- must have been old, as they don't have anything current on their website.

As it turns out, the animated stock car was mentioned in their 2022 NMRA update brochure:
https://resources.bachmanntrains.com/2022-nmra/html5/index.html

Available in CB&Q, UP, D&RGW, and Christmas Car with reindeer.

OK, they might get me with the reindeer car, if I can get one at a huge discount.

At Bachmann prices, it should smell like a real stock car too.

The only steam I've seen them talk about are the reruns of existing models.

It would be nice for a new run of C&O H-4 2-6-6-2's (Not the USRA H-5) Or non-streamlined PRR K4s.
But what I'd really like from them is a C&O H-8 2-6-6-6   :D

Why would you want that when for that kind of money you can buy a whole string of "animated" stock cars?FOUR heads per car!

Because the parts of the PRR and C&O that I'm interested in shipped mostly coal?  It doesn't moo, oink, whinny or baa.   :D

The NMRA 2022 catalog had zip for N-Scale steam.  Only the Siemens ALC-42 was new  https://resources.bachmanntrains.com/2022-nmra/html5/index.html

The regular 2022 online catalog is "being rebuilt" (for at least three months now) and not available.  The previous online catalog was Summer 2020 and it's big news was the NYC J3 Hudson.

Since we are getting into what we want, I'll add that I would like to see Bachmann make a larger 4-6-0 or an Atlantic 4-4-2.  Both are not available in N scale.  Since BLI has an Atlantic in HO that they might do in N scale, it would probably be best for Bachmann to do the big 4-6-0.

The 4-6-0 that I would most like to see is a B&O B-18c,d or e.  They could even use their existing short USRA tender with it:

This thing would actually pull more than the Atlantics the B&O had, and that would probably be true for a model, as well.

Whatever animals they want as long as Goatsy is not included in the mix.

Give me a more modern 4-6-0 as well! I could take what Maletrain posted and turn it into a SP locomotive easier than taking their original 4-6-0 and making it look 'right'.

Next up from Bachmann: the aquarium car
Sacramento Valley NRail and NTrak
