Campaign for Conrail Family Tree release from MTL!!

Ever since the first Family Tree release, I've hoped for a Conrail Family Tree release, and as I recall @MTLJoe hinted it was a possibility if they were supplied details and examples to put one together.

So, here is what I have so far.. (Focusing on MTL body styles (or close matches) and Conrail Era heritage schemes..
Also trying to stay away from 40' Boxcars, since they were pulled from service so early.

I think the goal is to specifically have cars patched with CR reporting marks - you provided some examples of this, but a lot of examples of cars simply in their original paint schemes, which doesn't achieve this.

It'd be pretty easy to make a "family tree" set by just throwing a bunch of cars lettered for predecessors into a set.

Conrail is definitely a good one though, there's lots of patched examples that can be dug up.

The MTL 50’ boxcar models are not prototypical for NH, even though they all are PS-1. I’d rather see a PS-2 covered hopper, as a number of NH survived well into Conrail retaining their original reporting marks and the MTL model is 100% accurate for NH.

As I was going through most of what I could find 'patched' they painted over all logos/lettering of the prior road (unless you push into the late 80s and 90s when the patch wore off)
I figured MTL seems to like to maintain the older scheme in a weathered but visible format so I collected both patched and un patched examples.

And I realize I could take a bunch of pre Conrail cars and weather them, but MTL has the capability to do some of these complex weathered schemes that I couldn't do justice.

I figured I'd try.

Oh holy ***** I'd be so in!

I am pretty sure this has been done numerous times before though, but I absolutely want to see it done now with MTL's current capabilities.

I feel like it's just a matter of time before @ai5629 and @GonzoCRFan do a big info drop.

All I can think of for previous attempts is:
Fox Valley producing the NS Heritage fleet and NSE following up with a Caboose run.
And MTL did that Conrail Heritage 5 pack in the mid 1990s.
Maybe NSE did some other stuff I'm not aware of.

Oh yeah, the Airslides: PC, ERIE, and one other.

I wouldn't put the previous efforts into the same category as what MTL is doing now.

You'd think CR be a natural for this, if they didn't invent patching equipment, they sure made it an artform.

The EL car was the one that started it all, so you'll have to find another 😁

Done...

I also found some EL Patched ERIE Boxcars and added those to the Erie List.

In the case of Conrail for the patches..
Maybe CR Patch the cars for the roads that directly became Conrail.
Then EL Patch the Erie and Lackawanna cars.
PC Patch the NYC, PRR, and NH Cars

Just found a CR Patched Raritan River 40' Boxcar in MOW Service..

(I wonder if you could do the whole series in MOW cars..?)
