No...but slowly and surely, all the photos of your Maersk models will disappear from the World Wide Web as the web crawlers of the legal eagles find them.  Half of the railroad photo pages bookmarked on my browser don't work anymore, many due to various copyright nonsense.

Ah!  I didn't think about posting pictures of your personal MRR stuff which just happens to have Maersk equipment in it.  We'll just have to Photoshop in black bars over the name/logo.

Don't you love the corporate mindset???!!!  (Don't answer that!)

hmmm... I have a few Maersk 40' Containers from various manufactures any bidders? $100 per container. Buy 6 and I'll throw in a Kato Maxi-I in for free.

I just copied from the email and pasted here.  Email is in all different colors but caps.  Don't shoot the messenger  :scared:

I was not implying that *YOU* changed the message you quoted to ALL CAPS.  Just rolling my eyes about it, and now knowing that the text was also multicolored, my are rolling so hard they might fall out of my head!   :D

I have noticed over the years that both Postel brothers seem to have propensity for loud and flashy presentation on their websites.  Lots of colors, flashing text and small animated tags everywhere.  Something I would expect on a website from back in the '90s. Hopefully the new website will be a bit less flashy, but also not as "big commerce" as MBK.

This Maersk thing reminded me of the big kerfuffle with Union Pacific RR and model companies.  How was that problem finally resolved?

33ASRs are nice, but I grew up around Model 15s and 19s 👍

As Maersk is a publicly-traded Danish company that is based in Copenhagen, Denmark, it is highly unlikely that the issue could be tried and settled in an American court.

2006!  That's a while ago!  Thanks Neville!  Funny that MTH was instrumental in that very positive development for the entire model RR industry, while they were highly disliked for their stance about certain DCC functionality.

And even having the licensing agreement,  some RR will only allow the new, out of paint shop versions of cars to be produced.  Ie, no graffiti.  UP and CSX are like this, so you can do the graffiti but have to change the reporting marks

re: Maersk ... maybe this is the reason there are no Maersk decals out there for my era (mid 70s).

I was in Des Plaines the morning they got an email from Kato about this.

The email was something like "We must ask you to stop selling our Maersk products as part of our agreement with Maersk. You are not obligated to do this, however."

The speculation was that it was just the end of Kato's licensing agreement and that they had to ask, but there was no method to compel them (which it seemed worded to allude to).

Now I wonder if it's more widespread.

I think that's more a reflection of a really poorly done "roll-out" of the new Kato website.

For example, the smoothside passenger car link (at the moment) takes you to a "404" error: https://katousa.com/N/Smoothside/index.html

Same for the 20th century: https://katousa.com/N/20thCentury/index.html

Earlier this week there was other goofiness including photos with absurdly incorrect aspect ratios.  :D
