It is a common thing in the computer Viking survival game "Valheim", where one uses entrails of "Draugrs" (a kind of zombie-like creature)to make sausage skins.  (Well you asked...).

I was told that the Eastern diner is a NYC car, and I'm certain that the Western diner is an SP prototype.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

Interesting info, but the "C" in the thread's subject has been eaten and is still missing.  :)

I noticed that as well, but my first thought was vultures and other scavengers.

I think this is a pretty good assessment.  The Western diner is definitely a match to the kitchen side shown in the IMRC/Cetralia artwork.

Likewise, the Eastern diner is a good match for a NYC PS diner- at least on the side they show in the artwork.

I don't have either model, and I couldn't find a photo of the aisle side of the models to compare to prototype photos. I do wish that manufacturers would show us BOTH SIDES of a car in their artwork.  Some coaches and baggage cars are the identical on both sides- or mirror images, but most, especially diners and sleepers, are generally much different.  This is especially important in cases where the manufacturer paints and letters the car for railroads that never owned the car, but instead had prototypes that the manufacturer deems to be "close matches" or "very similar", or where the manufacturer is just pumping out complete foobies.  "Close" and "foobie" are in the eye of the beholder....and I think the beholder who is putting out $40-50 should make that call, not the one putting the money into their annual sales revenue.

As a side note.... if you are a post Amtrak modeler, one of the matching SP diners ended up in L&N paint in a museum, lettered as L&N diner "Duncan Hines."

:|       When those cars first came out and I obtained some, the Eastern Diner matched NYC with it's vestibule at one end, the Western was an SP prototype. They did Union Pacific on an Eastern Car as it looked closer to UP4800 series diners, think KATO smooth side and similar Chicago North Western cars  (ACF 1949) and correctly did the Aluminum Kick Plate on the kitchen access doors. The Western Cars with their narrow kitchen windows resembled Great Northern "Lake " series diners although were Southern Pacific Prototype.              :|Nate Goodman (Nato).

Thanks Mark.

Is there a way to navigate to those pages through the IMRC website?  (I ask hoping that there are similar pages for other cars)

Attempts to back up through the directories produces "forbidden" (#403) errors.  And I can't find anything on intermountain-railway.com that links to those drawings or anything similar.

I've been trying to get one of the Centralia CCS 7016 UP diners for years, and can't even prove to myself they were ever made.

I'd put in a reservation from Brooklyn when they first came out and it was never filled.

Anybody know?    https://www.intermountain-railway.com/distrib/ccs/html/ccs7016.htm

My '72 Chief on Amtrak had a UP diner stuck in the consist, and I've never found an acceptable car for it.
