What is Floquil Crystal-Cote?

I grew to hate that stuff.   Maybe I somehow used it incorrectly, but I would finish up a loco with it.... and all was fine.

But then after a while (weeks) of loco use.... the loco started feeling sticky.   As if the oils from my hands were dissolving/interacting with the Crystal-cote.

I since moved to Testors Model Master Acryl clear coat and find that to be far far superior.

I tried the Rust oleum Dead Flat and it works pretty good, but doesn't smell the same.

Could you give some more specific info?
Unfortunately I live in Sweden, and the spray brand I bought isn't available in the US
That being said, any spray for making frosted glass should work.
The spray I bought in a 600 ml can cost $8, so quite affordable.

The important take away here is that Testors DullCote is back. I just saw the backorders releasing for our shop today. We have 24 cans on the way. It's been well over a year since we have had it in stock.

As a side note, another alternative is Vallejo Matte Varnish. It comes in a full size spray can for about $14 and lasts forever. I don't think it is quite as flat as Dullcote was but it's been my best alternative so far, other than the Tamiya which is double the price.

Ron:  I have no idea what Crystal-Cote was, but I used it on passenger cars back in the 80s.  And, you're right, it did tend to feel sticky after a while, even if the paint under it was fully dry.  Whatever it was, it wasn't simply "glossy Floquil".
