A surprise is the change from a WM 2 bay covered hopper to a CSX restensilled B&O 3 bay covered hopper for the first CSX family tree offering. I wonder what happened to the plan?

Duh, its an anti gravity engine!  You run it with your Turboneculaor(sp?)

That load is what's up with that load. Not sure the load master will let it ship that way though.

I may be in for the ATSF meat reefer.  From what info I can gather, ATSF supplied these cars for an Armour plant.  The MTL is a reasonable representation of an Rr-W class car (which were 40' cars).  I don't know how long the Rr-W cars were used in meat service, or whether at some point they were rebuilt in steel, but it will fit my layout plans and create an excuse for one more switching move.  Does anyone have more info on the "hoods" over the ice hatches?  I vaguely recall reading something about these, but I don't know when or why they were in use.  But in case, the parts are removeable.  I like this approach by MTL- using their 3D printing capability to produce unique customizing parts for their standard car line. I also have the SP boxcar converted to grain hopper they issued some months ago.

Not as ridiculous as it looks, I've seen examples of loads spanning the depressed center on HD flats.

Now the engine load definitely looks weird and would likely need some cribbing/dunnage to support it over the span...

My own vote is for a WWII era submarine engine (Alco, maybe? it does look a bit like a 244 or 251 with the square hatches), but I like yours better.  The anit-gravity feature would explain how it supports itself across the 25' depression without any blocking or support.  Does strike me that PRR or ATSF would have used one of their 100+ ton FLAT flatcars.  But knowing MTL, like as not there is a photo somewhere of an SP depressed car with one of these strapped to it.

Ryan:  Some roads actually had "filler pieces" for their depressed-center flats, to turn them into flat-deck, heavy-duty flat cars.  Others, as you said, used temporary cribbing.

I think the problem is that they don't have enough Ringling Brothers photos to determine whether they had more single window or paired window combines.

As for everything else, the SF reefer was a maybe but was in captured service so it looks like I'm saving more money for those SP passenger cars (whenever they start making some again).
