I just finished Thomas Klimoski's new book: "Building The Right-Sized Layout: Designing and operating a small switching layout"
https://www.thomasklimoski.com/book
I cannot say enough good stuff about it. And I say that not only because he has a section talking about
http://traincrew.conrail1285.com/, but also because, despite the title, I think it's a fantastic treatise on modern thoughts on layout construction and operation. Even though it claims to focus on smaller layouts, it's contents are really worth checking out even if you're
@C855B .
He doesn't necessarily introduce anything new and earth shaking in it, but he DOES a
fantastic job of pulling together much of the modern thinking that's floating around when it comes to these topics.
It's well worth the ~$20 from your favorite hobby retailer.
