Continuing Walthers run as a residential developer. Good looking kits that should do well, but I cannot help but wish they would hit us with a heavy industry series in N like their ethanol or grain elevator kits from HO.

Made it at least as far west as Michigan.  The one I am sitting in now is essentially that house, but reversed left to right.  This one has had several poorly chosen additions and remodeling over its 100 odd year lifespan.  But the basic "T" shape floorplan is still evident.

I understand - sort of like like Newark, NJ (1 syllable) and Newark, DE (pronounced New Ark, since it was originally two words).  I went to school at UD in Newark, DE.

I think it would look great as a "bank barn", where the animals come in on a lower level and the hay wagon comes in on a floor above.  The whole building is built into the side of a hill so that the doors on the two levels are both at their respective ground levels, but on opposite sides.  The bottom level is usually built with stone, but sometimes brick, block or even poured concrete.

That top level pictured from Walthers looks pretty simple to scratch build.  But a well made bottom section, with stone walls and several "Dutch doors" for multiple stalls, and some windows for natural light, would be harder to scratch build for a bank barn.

Yes, this! It was my immediate thought as well. That, and a detailed interior with hayloft will be on my list of improvements. This is the first model barn I’ve really ever been excited about. All previous offerings looked somehow “wrong” in my eyes. Mostly unhappy with proportions. For a Midwest barn, this looks the part for sure. Same with the house.

These are the kind of barns out here in the West. 
Typically there is a separate, usually cinder block one story building for milking.
I scratch built this one and bought some of the IMEX silos for about $10 a pair.

We did that with the AMB wood barn kit on friends layout.  Scratchbuilt the lower level from a stone wall sheet.  The barn was installed on a hillside, so the back half is in in ground, and there is a dirt ramp leading to the front door.  The barn sits in a corner of a cow pasture.  My contributions to this model were the (photoetched) lighting rods and weather vane.

LANK-ah-stir, but I'm sure you know that. Not as much fun as the pronunciation of Buena Vista, VA!
