I stopped by on a recommendation when I was in Chicago almost 2 years ago now, and I must say my experience was the same.  Excellent customer service with a nice selection of N scale.  I left with my wallet quite a bit lighter but happy with what I had found

A while back - last year or the year before - I placed an order with them for mostly N and a single HO car. Not very long thereafter I got a call from them as they thought I’d ordered the HO car in error and wanted to follow up with me. I don’t think I’ve had a bad experience ordering from them, and the last locomotive I ordered from them (last month) arrived in a small USPS box, properly padded... same box size that FVM/Des Plaines used, as a matter of fact.

Every time I've ordered from them online there's been a small package of fruit gummi candies in the shipment.

You know what's funny? This thread actually prompted me to go cruising their site for stuff to buy.

And I found it! The Conrail bay window caboose that I should've gotten in the first place: the one that carries my zip code as its road number.

I've stopped there on three trips to Chicago, always worth it, hard to walk out without buying something.

Very nice folks as well.  My former layout was IHB, and they are willing to sell it consignment in their shop, figuring it would sell best in Chi Town, so I need to pack up a few excess locos and cabeese for them.  (i.e, a half dozen custom number GP 40-2, MT 1500, SW 1500 MT, etc.)

Every time I've ordered from them online there's been a small package of fruit gummi candies in the shipment.

I ordered the TW Cascadia's from them when my LHS told me my original order was cancelled bc their supplier went out of business.  I thought the fruit gummies were a great addition to the order.  Of course, about a week later my original order showed up somehow at the LHS, so now I have double the number I thought I was going to have.  And no gummies because they disappeared before I unpacked the order

There was a distinct lack of padding in the loco shipment I received from Lombard.

I have been using Lombard as my #2 online source behind HiawathaHobbies.com. Hiawatha is 70 miles away and Lombard around 120, so occasionally prior to the pandemic the wife and I would take a drive to either. Lombard in my book is closing in quick to Hiawatha and I believe it’s because of the great store they have and very good store staff.

I made a trip to Lombard a couple weeks ago. It’s a 2 1/2 hour drive but totally worth it.
I have ordered online from them in the past and had excellent Services’s well.
They also have a good stock of ESU decoders on hand.

I ordered several items yesterday 2/9/21.  They arrive today 2/10/21!!!!!  Wow, one day service.  I live about 90+ miles away.

And I got the gummies too.
