Update so I tried setting up a mock loop and I had to turn the sensitivity to almost zero on the digitrax at but it works with my basic nice set up of the power cab plus the small adapter. It’s the same wiring as what I did on the layout only smaller. Maybe my smart booster isn’t tripping the digitrax ar??? Or maybe it’s my gauge of wire or where my main bus is coming from near the psx breakers.

FINALLY!!!!!!! So I would have never guessed this. My psx circuit breaker was set to high for sensitivity. I didn’t set cv49 to 1.... now it works perfectly.  Learning curve with new circuit breakers and products. Thank you for everyone who helped get me thinking to work backwards

Quick thought - have you used a multimeter to check that the connections you THINK you made were actually made and working?

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

Yes and everything was fine. I’ll admit I didn’t fully read the directions on my psx and didn’t set the cv49 to 3 for my 5amp booster nor my pro cab. Without the psx the digitrax and the dcc specialties frog ar worked just fine. I can tell you that the frog ar works so fast bc its a solid state switch not like the digitrax one. Doesn’t even make a sound when it’s switching the polarity of the rails. You get what you pay for in that instance.

Sorry, I missed the PSX part of the story (forgot to refresh my browser).    Been there and done that too!
Glad you figured it out!

I almost did the same thing - ask additional troubleshooting questions, before realizing the the thread spilled over to the next pafe.

it's just two wires, $1500.00 in decoders, another $2000.00 in support hardware, and a laptop running JMRI... couldn't be easier  :D

i do not miss the days of wiring up toggle switches to multiple throttles, the juggle of setting meets, and being lambasted for failing to clear the blocks as i leave them.  the WORST that happens now is "did you dispatch that consist?"

Well, it is all relative.

And yes, wiring is simpler than block control.  In this example the actual wiring was correct (and simple).  Software settings were the culprit.

As far as the apparent complexity goes, if the problem was thoroughly and accurately described since the start, it could have been solved in less than half a dozen posts.  But when information comes in small chunks, troubleshooting takes longer.  I'm not blaming anybody - this is how troubleshooting goes. I know - I troubleshoot for a living.  And as unbelievable as it may sound, I'm not perfect either.  :)
