Uncure Debonder

  Anybody use Uncure debonder to Un CA a plastic part?  I have a Kaslo SD50F shell that is kinda short on the Atlas mech and need to remove the step ends.  Have you used it?  What were your results?  Thanks

I agree, though it could be buffered somehow to make it less "hot" for certain plastics. In either case, I would definitely test someplace hidden before going to town with it, especially with aftermarket resins.

My Kaslo SD50F that I got pre-assembled had problems with the truck swing. You probably won't get the shell apart cleanly, but I chose to remove some of the material from the trucks where it hit the steps and it's pretty much unnoticeable and they don't hit now. You could also try to remove some material from the shell, but the shell is harder to replace than the truck sideframes. If debonder is acetone, I would avoid it on a plastic or resin model.

  Sounds like its pretty risky to use.  CJD, could you share any more info and what you cut?  Was it just the front or was it both ends?  Thanks

I've used Satellite City's CRK-H-SS Super Solvent CA Debonder before, it appears to be a mix of acetone and something else which has some type of retarder in it but it definitely still melts plastic if you leave it on there for too long. Its not as bad as just acetone on plastic but it does make your base material soft.

Its also interesting that it makes the CA glue soft and tacky. I ended up having better luck scraping the glue off while it was in a hardened state with a knife instead of using the debonder because the results were pretty inconsistent.

If I had it on hand, I would show what I actually did, but here is a quick illustration of what I did. You only have to take off enough so that it doesn't clip the stairs.
