Just installed a LS5 in a Kato N scale P42 with the above sound file. Noticed that, while the loco will continue to speed up thru the speed steps fine, the sound does not throttle past about notch 3. It will, however, throttle all the way up if I hit HEP mode. Anyone else notice this?

Also, the learning curve is going to be really steep for me with these V5's. Was trying to figure out how to change the horn, as changing the "sound configuration" and then playing a sample does not seem to work in LP5 like it did in LP4 for whatever reason. Found info stating that you can use CV163 to change the horn but I discovered that a particular value entered does not result in the same horn every time. For example, entering CV163=1 will result in one particular horn at first but will be different after trying some others and then re-entering CV163=1. Very weird!

...this is my second V5 install. The first was in an Atlas GP35 with an appropriate sound file. It behaved as expected with throttling up, etc.

That is how the prime mover on these work. Worked the same in the Select/V4 files

Thanks for the info. Was wondering if it might be prototypical, however, I had the Select version as well and it throttled much farther up than this does.

...just to be clear on what I'm hearing, it idles at speed step 0, kicks up a notch at speed step 1, kicks up one more notch at speed step 3 and then that's all thru the rest of the 28 speed steps. If that's indeed prototypical, then great! Seems off to me but I don't know for sure.

Yeah, I'm not 100% certain of how the prototypes work, just that the RPM needs to be locked at 900 for when the HEP is on.

Does yours behave the same way? Wondering if I might have a goofy setting or have a function key active that I'm not aware of.

I actually don't have one - all my P42 installs (with all the cool lighting) have been for clients (supposed to be receiving a couple more, but haven't heard back from him in a while).  But I've not done anything special to the standard sound slots.
