Well, I wasn’t in the USAF so I didn’t get the training you did. 😜

I was home in just five hours.  Already starting physical therapy.  The doc removed a bunch of bone spurs and had to reattach my bicep tendon (it had torn off).  So far so good on recovery.  And @CRL I appreciate your concern but I can wipe my a$$ with my good hand...😀

One reason to be ambidextrous in that department I guess  :o :D

Certainly much more spectacular than my own HOn3 Rio Grande Southern at Ophir!

Was surprised I couldn't find anything more on this layout.

Reminds me of the late Bob Clarke’s On3 logging layout that was my first exposure to a true museum quality layout.

Rolling stock!  Gives me something I can do without too much stress on my right shoulder.  Recovery is going extremely well BTW.

All of these cars are from Fine N Scale models resin and brass kits except the Colorado Springs &Cripple Creek District gondola...that one is a 3-D print I bought from South Boulder Modelworks via Shapeways.  The decals are from K4 Decals except for the lumber flat...those are the custom decals I had shot through Silver Crash Car Shops back when they were still in business.  I know banded lumber's about 50 years anachronistic for my era but I needed weight on the flat and I had these plaster lumber loads just taking up space in my parts bins.  The ore load in the CS&CCD gon is real Colorado gold mine tailings.

Years ago I picked up some secondhand parts and pieces of Roundhouse Overland passenger cars. I cobbled together enough parts to make a coach and a combine. I finally got around to finishing them.  The decals are from Republic Locomotive Works.

When I first lettered this Athearn 2-8-0 for the Colorado Midland, all I had on hand were freight car decals (top), so I kind of faked it. Now that I have the Republic Locomotive Works decal sheets, I redid CMRy #51 (center) in a much more accurate scheme as depicted by CMRy #53 (bottom).

Keeping busy!

I wonder if you could section that upper end of the cab/roof in order to make it taller more like the prototype?

...or not worry about it at all.   :D

The RGS is where I do that fiddly work.  This is just reality-flavored fantasy.

Yeah sure, that's also an option.   :D

Actually, I do think the cab is a weakness on this model.  I know the model's based on a Northern Pacific prototype, but the cab looks too short even for that prototype.

Who knows, maybe someday I'll design a replacement cab and redo them all.  Or not.   :D

It is probably a split of small cab large boiler. Think I have those NP plans. And I think I just saw CM plans a few days ago...
