Trainworx N scale Vintage Fuel Tankers

I just heard from Pat at Trainworx that he expects to be shipping these in early August.

The original announcement was way back in 2017, so if you have a reservation you might want to verify that it's still valid.

I, too, would be quite bummed if the Hess truck was dropped.  Having grown up in NJ, I had various Hess toy trucks that I played with, and was really looking forward to having an N scale version...

It would be fun to have a truck painted like his Trainworx truck logo.

What I remember about Hess stations in NJ was that they were all bright white structures, with glass walls, and super brightly lit.  They looked very clean and inviting.  They remind me of my early days in this country (after leaving drab and gloomy Poland). I also started seeing them in New England when they took over another gas station chain here, but they are all gone now.

As for models, the paint scheme is very simple, so it should be easy to make custom decals for them.

The pdf's I linked are the old/original announcements. If the Hess stuff was added later on, I don't see any reason why they wouldn't still be coming.

Those look nice and not as modern as the other trucks they make. What era would these be from? I don’t model anything past the mid 70s.

They are pre-1970s.

They are pre-1970s.

It sorta kinda depends on the detailing. The 351 was made from the mid-'50s to the mid-'70s. I think we had this discussion back when they were announced, and somebody (not I!) was able to pick out the features on the Trainworx model that narrowed the model year range.

I'm talking about the tanks (fuel trailer).

Ah. Yeah, that tank design was fading away in the '60s. There was probably a hard cutoff for that style due to hazardous transport rule changes; don't know when that was.

Many of these tank trailers were repurposed into water trailers, and some are still in use today.  In fact, I took the photo of the ex-Mobilgas trailer shown below on a tour at the 2015 N scale convention.

With a some new wheels and tires, and a touch up of the lettering, you would have the trailer in Trainworx #55017.   :D

Edit:  Looking closer at the trailer, this one may have been Mobiloil instead of Mobilgas.
