Finally got around to sanding, filling screw holes, more sanding, repainting & then re-wiring my new Nn3 test layout. It’s a simple rectangular box made with 1”x2” trim pieces for a frame & skinned with 5mm plywood. Track is Z- Scale Rokuhan which can be reconfigured quickly and also allows simple addition of extra power feeds if needed. DC power is also by Rokuhan RC-02. Track is not fastened down yet as I might add a siding or inner loop. Layout is very light weight and a handle will be added so I can bring it to local shows, club meetings, work sessions, etc...
I have a few 'locomotive projects that still need lighting, details added, tender pickups added, paint, weathering, etc... This current Nn3 layout lets me easily test and compare performance of the various power chassis, clean & lubricate the older Marklin steam chassis (used for RLW loco conversions) check & adjust coupler heights and also see how many cars the finished locos can pull on level track. Using my kitchen island cause the hobby room is a mess! Will start shooting more YouTube videos and posting them as time permits.
