Tokyo insisted on the 2 per stock number N Scale and 3 per HO kit box packaging for the ACF Covered Hoppers.
While many of us will buy multiples of one road name unless it is a unit train type car most prefer singles.  I think some customers even resented having to buy multiples.   The goofy Lima style snap in trucks didn’t help.
Getting Japan to understand the North American market profile for more road names, paint schemes, road numbers, and more frequent predictable production is a battle that Kato USA staff has been fighting with no results.
And the re-release is the previous roads and paint jobs.
Oh well.....

A week after my last session, I enjoyed Op Session #6 on Michael Batten's Esquimalt & Nanaimo Railway layout last night.  As we both worked to get our layouts to the operating stage during the last few years, we looked forward to the day when we could host alternating sessions and interchange cars, and that day is now here.  With his permission, here are a few photographs:

My RS-10 584 has been leased to the E&N for a period and is seen here working in Victoria Yard:




Sister engine 581 is also on the E&N and is seen here coming off the Lake Cowichan Subdivision at Hayward with the Nitinat Logger:




Last week I posted a photograph of BCOL 4049 and PGE 4015 being picked up from the Cargill grain elevator in Dawson Creek for shipment to Vancouver Island.  A week later they are seen here in Train 52 which has come south from Wellcox Yard in Nanaimo.  It is meeting the Logger at Hayward:




The cars are spotted at Top Shelf Feeds in Duncan.  This industry can be viewed from the Island Highway and grain cars from the British Columbia Railway and alter BC Rail could occasionally be seen there.  Michael's GP-9 8695 does the honours:




This morning I went to the real Vancouver Island to see Jeff Briggs and came home with a bag full of new RS-10 and RS-18 parts.

Well Charlie as a 'Grander' I buy them whenever I can, even tho they had very few in number, they are somewhat iconic version and welcome anytime.
OTOH- I have some cheapies in ATSF brown plastic by ??
Will have to find them..

A few of you will recognize me as one of the few T gauge modelers here.  I say "T gauge" specifically this time because I've started making some narrow gauge models in other scales using T gauge (3mm gauge) track.  There is now commercial T-gauage flex track with wider spaced, longer ties that should work in either scale (not shown, I'm waiting on a pack to see how it looks);  If acceptable I'm planning on making some custom (dummy) turnouts to fit like I've done in T scale. 

Here's a Gilpin Tramway ore dump car in 1:220 (Zn2), and then a 1:300 D&RGW 30' box (test model, the next iteration has truss rods and brake staff/wheel).   Note.. the track shown is 1:450 standard gauge made with CCE Models' North American roadbed and Code 40 rail.


For the standard gauge fans, here's a T-scale turntable I'm working on for part of an engine facility diorama.

Have these rulers become collectible, or just that useful?  I have one, and I do use it frequently.  (Edit..just read up on DKS.. as I don't check in here that often that news gives me some idea of the sentiments about the ruler.. and incidentally--he's the reason I got inspired to start modeling in T way back 10-15 years ago, so in some sense if you like these models you can thank him).

Aside from the fact that the NZT ruler is a superior tool, and out of production, @DKS is a friend and mentor to a lot of us. What we have that he produced it this priceless in so many ways.

One of the guys on here posted some photos of a load he did last week and I thought I'd replicate it. MT 50' flat with a Rslaser kit wood deck. Weathered the flat and india inked the deck. The Massy Ferguson combines are made by a European company called Artitec (expensive stuff, but really cool). Blocked them on the flat using scale lumber and it's done. Pretty neat load

It seems to me that the front of the harvester is unsupported. I would guess the in the real world that part would be down on the car deck. If the model doesn’t allow for that, I would suggest more bracing would be appropriate.

I decided to give myself a new challenge and started work on a Kaslo SD40-2F kit.

I didn't like some of the parts in the kit so I'm also working on drawing up new ones and printing them on the Photon.

@altohorn25 are those combines Z Scale or N Scale? 
When compared to the truck of the flatcar, they look much smaller than I would think they should for an N Scale model.
