Not aimed at you Scott by any means, but I have little sympathy for those that move in close to the trains and are then surprised and offended when they make noise.  :facepalm:

I don't disagree.  A perfect example is a new apartment complex built right next to the tracks where they cross Front St. coming off of the Steel Bridge in Portland.  The U.P. is already getting noise complaints.  The difference is noise complaints are not going to make the U.P. go away.  A tourist railroad in Durango?  In a heart beat.  Unfortunately.
