Reese that F50 is sweet!!!  Those cars were built by the Penn Central at the ex NYC Despatch Car Shop in East Rochester, NY in 1969 and 1970.  Those would be very useful to PC, Conrail, NS and CSX modelers.  They are also very close to class 110F coil cars built for the P&LE by Despatch.  I beleive that the Bessemer and Lake Erie tacked their coil cars onto the end of the P&LE order, as the graphics are identical, just the paint is orange.  Are you printing these yourself, or do you have a preferred printer?  The worst part of modeling these cars would be the decals which do not exist in N scale to my knowledge.  Thanks.

I am printing these on my Photon. Conrail F50 decals are actually on decal set 60-742 from Microscale which made me go ahead and draw this car up. I just wish the decal sheet came with more than just one cars worth of decals.

My 'shop job' custom build SW9 is done - for a customers scene where the main generator will be changed out.

Wrestling with coloring mortar lines, or not.  I also had some boomers in to run Spur 4.  More in the AC&Y thread.

@PiperguyUMD
I can think of at least one WM modeler that would part with a few hard earned dollars to have a copy of that bridge.
Did you do that in Shapeways or any of the pay services?  Or is that a home-brew that I'll have to hunt down?
Looks phenomenominal!

And the switcher servicing scene looks amazing, @randgust , but now that you've animated that oil rig on your TTrak module, I'd be mighty disappointed if that crane didn't swing around a little.  Shades of @DKS

Nothing new from me this week.  I received my replacement WM S-4, though, as well as the latest generation of the venerable Bachmann Plymouth.  It's remarkably good given its shaky pedigree!

The V-P Freight arrived with a record 39 cars behind M-630717, C-630M 701 and RS-3 574.  The RS-3 will be set out for yard service at Chetwynd.  This was actually the first session for 717 after a truck rebuild finally cured some serious running issues which have plagued this unit since build:

Further back in the train were the mid-train remotes comprising Remote Control Car RCC 2, CN C-424 3218 and M-630 710.  All of the cars behind the remotes were making their debut onto the layout:

That must have been quite the sight ..(and sound)...   I could probably do a similar length by pre-staging the FN-FSJ turn as if it had just arrived..  Now I am getting ideas.

The first test assembly of the F50 went together better than expected. The coupler pockets need some tweaking so the couplers operate smoother but I'd say everything was a success.

Yes eventually, along with all my other cars, detail parts, and locos.

I just want to get a second, bigger printer first because I'm afraid I'll get back logged really quick with just a single Photon.

I home-brew exclusively these days! I'm sure we could work something out, but I need to clean up a few details first. It also wouldn't be much of a stretch to modify the file to match the bridge at Spring Gap, which had "Western Maryland Railway" engraved in the recesses.

Hi Andy:

Looking good!  Lots of hay fields in your area and mine.  Let me know when you figure out the best way to do a hay field so I can copy  :D.

Tim

With it being a summer long weekend down here I went into a scenery rabbit hole and after lots of attempts came up with a very pleasing late summer hay field effect.  This is for fields where hay has been cut into rows to dry but not yet baled.   My reference photo was this example from Dawson Creek but you see this pattern on Google Earth images in late summer in many areas.

It's all done with standard Woodland Scenics materials.... and not too hard, just lots of steps..   which I took care to write down :)

I finally had some time to work on this rider car that I picked up a while back off Ebay for my Santa Fe mail train. I added Gold Metal Models vestibule steps and baggage steps, Detail Associates marker lamps, and MT trucks and couplers (put a 905 on the rear; looks muck better than the truck mounted coupler). I also added a bit of weight so it tracks better and swapped out the plastic wheels for Fox Valley Models metal wheels. A nice little detail project.

Looks good, Andy.  Now, you need to get a tractor, a baler, a truck & trailer and......... :D
