Shouldn't the 'W' be capitalised.
It may be a portmanteau word, but it is emphasised in speech and other writing ok... (and is when abbrev'd) gulp ...  :? :o
d

PS - 4" isn't a card, it's a plank!

The logo used in the header/banner images (see top left of each web page) is the logo we are using. It is what it is (unless the forum owner wants to change it).

Four inches by three inches is the size of badges which fit in the Springfield show's badge holders.   Trust me.  :D
. . . 42 . . .

4" x 3" is your typical size for badges in all the conventions I've been to, not just MRR ones, but in the business world too.

Remember, any smaller you will have to get close to the person to read it.  And badges are typically pinned in the breast area and if the person you are talking to is a woman....well you get where I'm going.  :)

Ok, give me a little bit. I'll make up an online generator.

Ed to the rescue!  I'll hold off my ghetto attempt via low tech MS Word.  :D

If people here actually try to do that my prediction is that a lot of us, myself included, will be in a lot of hurt!   :scared:

The idea of badges so that Railwire members can recognize each other is intriguing. To that end, the N Scale Enthusiast is offering to print the badges for those denizens of Railwire that are coming to the Nashville convention  and add them to their convention badges. All they need do is contact me and we will take care of it.

In addition, would having a time and place for a meetup be of interest? We can easily add it to the schedule on Saturday within the scope of the clinics, or on Wednesday night after the Membership Meeting/Welcome Reception. We have the room and the desire, and I think it would be fun. Interested?

George,

That is a great offer but it all depends on how many are going and it would be better if there was a "ring leader" at the event to coordinate all the  :ashat: that are going.   :D  I was planning to go to Nashville (first timer for NSE convention) and I would have volunteered for that role but I just found out we would be away as a graduation gift so no can do.  :(

I guess it's not so secret now. Not that I could ever do that.

Since nobody has posted anything on this for some time, I went ahead and made a MS Word version that takes into account some of the suggestions that have been made in previous posts.

Sized to 4" x 3"

Uses a clean copy of a Railwire logo with "A forum for modelers" included

Made the logo bolder and changed the color to a reddish tint to make it more recognizable at a distance

Arranged the lines to: (1) Railwire logo; (2) Railwire handle; (3) real name; (4) club affiliation

Being an MS Word document, it should be easily modifiable and printable by just about everybody

My idea is that this can be used as the "flip side" in the holder for train shows like Amhurst, so that the official show show name tags can be seen and the holder can still get the benies that come with the official name tag.

However, it seems that I can't just attach an MS Word file to a post.  Is there some way I can share this version on the forum?  Or, is there another file type that is both easily modifiable and also allowed on this forum?

I don't know if you can attach a Word file.  You can save it as a PDF but then you won't be able to edit it.

I was about to summon @Ed Kapuscinski and see where he's at with the online generator he said he would make a few posts back.  :D  I know people are busy and Amherst is still 3 weeks away.

Well, here is a PDF version of the MS Word file, for whatever that is worth. [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

Still working on it. Was waiting for a file from Tom to do a good job.

Working on it... now, actually.

FYI, here's what I'm working on.

I still need to:
1. Finalize the design
2. Fix the print styles so it prints right
3. Add the form to make it easy to update.

But I wanted to let you all know it's a real thing.
