Correct pronunciation needed

Good evening all,

I was given a new to me Cannon Rebel camera earlier this year.  the question ....is EOS pronounced like  a word or just the letters?

Further I do not have the disc that came with it so I can't convert to jpegs for editing.  I will be heading to the Canon website soon.  What do I need to get started?

Pronounced like a word.

The camera can be set to shoot in JPEG so you don't have to convert the RAW files to JPEGs.  And you'll save memory too as RAW files are much bigger than JPEGs.  But RAW has other advantages.

Once you set the output to JPEG, just shoot away.  Get a card reader so you can get the pictures/files off the card much faster.

Thank you for your assistance.  I got a 32 gig card for the camera so I'm not to concerned yet.  An instructional  CD did not come with the camera to me. I have a cable and a card reader so I think I'm good there.  Now that it is dark earlier I will have to do some more on line research.

Bob, you can probably get the manual online from Canon if you know the exact model.  With today's sophisticated cameras it's best to read the manual as much as you can.

but is the "O" like..
'Oh'
Or like O from wizard of oz but silent z.

And Kato vs Kato.. I know now it's KAH-tow, but I still say Kay-tow out of old habit..

Why nor "Cat-Oh" while we are at it?  There is a local firm named KATO where the K stands of the husband's first name, the A stands for "and" and the T stands for the wife's first name, with the O standing for the last name.  So, shouldn't their company pronounce the A as it is spoken in "and"?  Thus "Cat-Oh"!  But, alas, they must have been Green Hornet fans or something.

The model railroad company is Kah-tow, but I've heard the name "Kato" pronounced both ways, and "Cato" seems to be Kay-tow more often than not.

Railroad initials?  Pronounce CMSTP&P, and you can see why they became the Milwaukee Road, initials MILW.  Another good one was the MStP&SSM, which wisely became the Soo Line.

I just picked up a new Canon EOS a few weeks ago.  Instead of reading the entire manual, I went to YouTube and found hundreds of
good videos on the camera model, from reviews to How-To's that covered the basics and then some.  Now I can go to manual for more specifics questions if needed.

Ha. That’s what I do a lot on many things.  Go on Google/YouTube “university” rather than read the manual. At least at first.
My wife believes all men have natural aversions to reading manuals.

Well, I used to read the manuals religiously, then try out the equipment.  But, manuals ain't what they used to be!  Model trains aren't so bad (except for the useless California materials warnings), but the manuals for tools have become jokes.  They are mostly lawyered to the point of uselessness.  I have to read through actual pages of generalize warnings that sound like the kindergarten teacher saying "Don't run with scissors!" just to find a bit of information about how to run the gizmo.  And, everything must be written in multiple languages, the number of which seems to increase annually.  Now, it is not just English, Spanish, French and German, but also several Asian languages that I can't even tell apart.  With all that legal verbage in all those languages, there is precious little space left for actual gizmo-specific instructions.  Apparently, that is left to the YouTubers to provide.  The actual manuals seem to have been written by somebody who has neither created nor used the gizmo, and then translated into English by somebody else who not only doesn't understand the gizmo, but doesn't really understand English very well, either.  Model train instructions might not be great for the really complicated locos with decoders, these days, but they are still far better than what I see for other consumer goods.

Good Morning all.

After taking the helpful advice here I have managed to locate the manual.  I also watched some You Tube videos.  Apparently I did not have knob on top turned to the right place when I set "print size".  Now I can save as jpegs and CR2 raws.  I am not quite as fully automatic as I was and I can now change ISO settings quicker.  I know it is not trains but I took a few shots late yesterday at nearby Crowder Mountain State park.  I'll only add one here.
