UP paint scheme question

The recent release of Scale Trains Dash 9s have me wondering:

When did UP paint them in the lightening stripe scheme with the nose wings logo?

Also, when did the red frame stripe era end and the yellow frame stripe era begin? I mean that in general, and not just for dash 9s.

Thanks for the education.

I'm sure your answers will be found here:  http://utahrails.net/up/up-diesel-paint-index.php

Don's site is an amazing resource for us UP fans.

So.. I always though with the new reflector rules, Locomotives need to be Yellow or White...

I always thought Locomotives needed to be yellow OR white.. however, the way Don's site reads.. Yellow must be used if White had not already been applied.

The interpretation must be yellow OR white... otherwise, how does NS get away with using white.... Heck the CP veterins units are using white.

Great info, but its overwhelming for a simpleton like me. I need a simple guide of pictures or artwork and the eras they existed in.

Still this a fantastic source. Amazing. My gratitude to him for such a comprehensive source. I guess I'll have to do my homework and research individual road numbers.
