Big push this week to finish the last unscenicked portion of the RGS.  Ophir Loop is perhaps the most recognizable scene in all of Colorado narrow gauge railroading, so it was important to get it as right as I could in a compressed space.  All the structures in the scene are modeled as they appeared in the mid-1940s.







And lastly I decided my Rockies needed to be rockier (Dumb and Dumber anyone?) so I transported the mountains near Dallas Divide on the RGS to the area between Gallagher and Rico:



Also two videos for this weekend.  The longer video is the August 2019 layout update (and thanks @davefoxx for pointing out my exceptional spelling of the word "Grande" on the title slide... ) and the short one is the runby through Ophir from that update video.

Started on one of two RS-3 conversions.   Exact road numbers to be determined but I will finish one in PGE and one in BCR colours

A few fit adjustments needed on the long hood but an enjoyable build so far.

If you're using DC, I don't envy you.  I've been through that....

If you're using DCC, it might be easier to just run another feeder, and forget about the failed one.

Can somebody explain to me what the caption for this week's header photo means? I can't quite grasp what the message is.

Mentally adding some quotation marks makes the caption easier for me to to understand:
"When [just saying] "I think it will [fit]" and "[It] looks good to me" could cost way more than the time and money to do this" (i.e., buying and using a laser measuring device.)

Another quick 3D printing project this weekend, a scale test car. I'll be doing one in NS and another in CR, but quite a few railroads have/had the same or similar style as well.

I added the wire grab irons, BLMA air hoses, a brake wheel from Gold Medal Models, BLMA 70T trucks and MTL 1015 couplers. I think I captured the low riding look of the prototypes well.

I spent this morning (Sunday) biting my nails and bid-sniping a winning bid for 90' of brand-new, unopened RailCraft Code 55 unweathered flex on the Bay!!  $3.14 per 3' length of the best damned N-scale track ever made in the history of the hobby ain't too shabby!!

Needless to say, I've got a big chit-eating grin on my fat face right now!!

Yeah, Mark is doing some really impressive  modeling.  I recommend visiting his blog http://spookshow.net/layout6.html . Modeling an entire village of Hope, structure-by-structure, is quite an undertaking.  I'm in awe of his persistence.  The Cargill facility is IMO the most impressive to date!
