Next X72 run Ed.  Bryan typically does the original owners in the first run, followed by subsequent owners in the next run.  There are multiple X58 CR models and an X65 CR model for you to spend your money on this run.  BTW, many PC X72 and X72A’s lasted into the late 80’s in original PC paint.  I recall seeing (and photographing) two PC X72A’s going into Enola Yard in October of 1987.  There is / was a slide on EBay of a couple PC X72A’s in NY in 1988.  I am really looking forward to these.

There are two things that jump out at me regarding how "close" to actual NYC cars these are.  First, the NYC used 4 wheel trucks on their 60' baggage cars, and these Atlas models come with 6 wheel trucks.  And the next thing that pops out to me is that the NYC 60' cars had two different sized doors on either side (6' and 8' wide), and the doors were spaced a bit closer to the ends of the car.  So, to a NYC person, they aren't very close.  If you want something closer, check out Mr. Denton's nice casting of a NYC car:

Requires a little bit of work, but you'd end up with a much more accurate 60' NYC baggage car.

Funny thing, I have a set of the 60’ WoT cars in NYC and they too came with six wheel trucks, see below. Is this a case of blind leading the blind, or was there a six wheel truck prototype?
The WoT cars seem to have a better door arrangement for the NYC prototype?

All 25 were from the Frisco merger and not originally BN. 1980 is your dividing line.

The logic as such may work for BN, but doesn't work for UP. Pre-merger UP also had hundreds of SD40-2s, but not a single GP40-2. The ones they had were all from merger victims partners such as SP and WP. Atlas' folks did their homework and are running UP road numbers of the few that made it to yellow sill paint/Scotchlite, that is, >2005.

Those WoT cars in your photo are 70' cars.  I think the 6 wheel trucks are correct for most of the NYC 70' cars.  Canada Southern site is temporarily down (so says the title page) but the Wayback machine came to the rescue- there are indeed diagrams for some 70' cars (74' over coupler faces= m/l the length of the longer WoT and the MT baggage) with 6 wheel trucks. Although the WoT door spacing is a bit different than what is shown in the diagram.  I use one in my own "ATSF Fast Mail" in NYC paint.  The MT car is also not too far off the NYC 70' depending how picky one is about these things.... Given that 30 years ago, there was 1 heavyweight baggage RTR, and now there are that same old Rivarossi, the MT, Atlas, 60' from WoT, a 70' from Wot with a host of roof, door and vent variations, plus horse cars from MT and WoT, plus resin castings from Skytop and Geoff Gooderham and Hellgate, and a bunch of stuff showing up on Shapeways- we can get a lot closer with RTR or kits than we used to.

Technically, the Penn Central X72A scheme in this first release is a Conrail car. It was serviced in the 1980s and has Conrail shop markings. The two X72-no-suffix schemes are pure Penn Central.

On the flatcar, BLMA did the 60 ft GSC flats.  As others have said, these are the ex-Walthers cars.  Really not bad cars, although the Walthers lettering wasn't always the most accurate.  Mine are good enough that I haven't seen the need to buy Athearn replacements.

The ones Atlas are doing are post 1991 also, as they have the flag decal which wasn't done until after the first Gulf War.  I also model 92-94 era so these fit for me
