Whose is going to be first noticing the lack of weathering on those hostler timing tags ?
Speaking of which, the lack of national media coverage was underwhelming. UP circulated a press release on Thursday and Associated Press circulated a piece, but maybe only one or two large metro papers picked it up. I'm curious if there was any national TV coverage; we didn't see anything in our area.
Most news media probably doesn't care much about some restored choo-choo. They rather cover political sparring, or some bloodshed.
I saw the Golden Spike reenactment on the CBS Nightly News this weekend, so yes, it got national telly coverage.
Nice that you made it for the festivities. We experienced the Golden Spike park and Ogden museum five years ago, and decided against braving the crowds surrounding the events. We'll see the 4014 in due time.>> estimated 200,000 It may have seemed like that considering the park's modest facilities, but local press reports have it ~20,000. 200,000 would have made the national news.Speaking of which, the lack of national media coverage was underwhelming. Not necessarily. Coverage of the 4014, etc., and the Golden Spike sesquicentennial is the kind of thing morning show fluff is made of. But... nothing.
