Very nice Bryan!  What paint scheme are you planning?  Is that the steam boiler poking through the roof next to the right cab?  That must have not been comfortable on a warm day.

Doug, I’m going with most common Hunter green with imitation gold striping. The steam boiler was behind cab #2, so I’m guessing it would only be an issue if the unit was reverse-running and the heat was running on a mild-weather day. The EP-4 and EF-3 were designed years after the EP-3 and also had the boiler behind the second cab, so it couldn’t have been a major hardship.

just for you Peteski..https://expo.syracuse.com/life-and-culture/g66l-2019/04/347856a861e84/dyngus-day-buffalo-2019-your-guide-to-the-postlenten-celebration.html

That was fun back when I was growing up in Poland.  I didn't expect to find Śmigus-dyngus celebrated in this country, especially in this touchy-feely, politically correct, and everything-is-offensive or degrading times.  Some girls/women might get offended or feel singled-out.  :RUEffinKiddingMe:

Traditionally, boys throw water over girls and spank them with ***** willow branches on Easter Monday, and girls do the same to boys. This is accompanied by a number of other rituals, such as making verse declarations and holding door-to-door processions, in some regions involving boys dressed as bears.

This afternoon when I got home from work, I decided that the new Southern Pacific branch was exactly where I wanted it, so I have glued them down.

I then turned to my attention to the crossing at 14th Street. The old “asphalt” between the rails didn’t look as nice as I wanted.

The new crossing is some old Micro Engineering turnout ties, I glued them to the ties.

Thanks.  I remembered something about Loctite, but couldn’t remember if red or blue was preferred. I’ll go with blue.

Ain’t modeling fun!!!

You can also use Loctite green, which is designed to wick into a joint by capillary action after the joint is assembled.  For problems like what you describe, I prefer to use it because you don't need the strength of King Kong on this, and you can set the wheel just where you want it, and THEN put a drop of Loctite on the end of the axle where it sits in the hole. The green stuff will just suck right into the joint.  Especially for metal-on-metal, it will hold.

I use the Bob Smith Industries brand called IC-Loc Green

But "LocTite" sells it under their own name too.

You can also use Loctite green, ...

Thanks, Max, for the memory jog (again). Apparently I have a mental block with Green, I guess from many years working on cars where Red and Blue were always in the toolbox. I agree, Green is the best choice for @CRL 's situation.

Thanks... Loctite “green” sounds like the best option. I like the idea of being able to position the wheel first, then applying the Loctite on the outside of the hub.

Picked up a tube of “green” thread lock at the auto parts store.

Of course, I had previously reassembled both locos, and failed to note which axle had the offending loose wheel, so this required disassembly of each loco and each truck.   Of course, the offending loose wheel was on the last (8th axle for those keeping score) axle of the second loco. I applied enough of the locking liquid to fill the well of the wheel and cover the end of the axle since I couldn’t get a tiny amount of the liquid to stay on the n-scale axle end. I let it sit for a few minutes to penetrate. Of course, most of the liquid started to set up in the wheel recess, so a few minutes was spent scraping that out of the wheel until the last popped out in one piece. The wheel is now solidly attached and in gauge.

Although going through inspecting 15 solid wheels to find the loose one was a pain, it did confirm I only had one loose wheel in the batch, so some silver lining there. I’m pretty sure I would have eventually gone through the process just to be sure there were no others lurking. OCD would have kicked in.

I have been travelling, so not much progress to report on either the retro layout or the TTrak set, but this came in the mailbox...

As soon as I accumulate the four car set and get a power car, get it all tidied up with fresh paint and decals, and get it run smoothly, I'm sure Jason will announce its imminent release!  Works every time!
