Playing with fascia colors tonight. And the winner is...drumroll...”lead cast” I think. (who comes up with these names, anyway?).
Light enough to not be too contrasty, picks up hues from the layout and backdrop, I like it. I think I will stare at it for a few days and see what I think...

... (who comes up with these names, anyway? ). ...

I was working on fascia color yesterday, too, and had the exact same thought about the silly names as I was browsing color chips.

The gray I picked is called "Improbable". Robyn quipped, "Fitting. Describes this whole project."

I’ve been working on Devore. It’s an triangular area 8’ long by 4’ deep in the corner, where the helix used to be...well, still is, buried.
There was a little community there at the foot of Cajon Pass, with a handful of modest homes, a couple of stores, a one-room schoolhouse, and of course the two-story depot, much more substantial than it needed to be, in anticipation of John Devore’s real estate scheme that never quite materialized. There are two sidings, one in each direction, with the eastward one placed behind the depot when the line was doubletracked. There was also a wye there to turn helpers in single track days when the ruling grade above Cajon was 3%; Devore was the first place flat enough to accommodate a wye. In later years, the wye was abandoned, water tank removed, and a materials/equipment/junk yard was located there. I’m still looking for photos and additional historical info, but it’s coming along, pics below.

Always stunning work, Otto. Beautiful. 'Cept for that second pic with the out-of-scale figure.  :D

Hey Otto, what's that to (our) right of the Elmer's glue bottle?  Some kind of "wash" for the ballast????   :P

Dang, @MK, my secrets are out.
It’s  liquid courage and inspiration for blending scenery colors onto the backdrop. Scary stuff. This particular mix is M&R sweet vermouth and tonic, but I have other blends, as appropriate for the kind of work at hand. For ballasting, I go straight to hard liquor, which is probably why I don't ever get much ballasting done..😜

Sweet vermouth and tonic? Very interesting sounding combo. I might just have to try that out.

Yes Ed,
very refreshing over ice on a hot day. Just make sure you get Martini & Rossi Rosso, not the cheap crap...and good Tonic, too.
You’re welcome...

Otto-
Any recommendations on what to pair with an afternoon of wiring feeders?
I’ve long admired your modeling -  I’ll gratefully have what you’re having!

Thanks for your kind comments, guys. @MDW, thanks, and depends on how early you start, I don’t until late afternoon. When working with hot solder, and electricity in general, maybe just a little light Sauvignon Blanc? Or a good beer on a hot day? I’m partial to the original Budweiser from Budweiss, Czechia (not that awful stuff whose name Anheiser-Bush hijacked for marketing purposes).

Yes I like that one, on ice (no Tonic).  Then there is also nice sweet Bianco version.  But with that one, I prefer Cinzano brand.

Got it, Otto
Beer is a given - any time of the day, but I may just try a bit of white wine the next time I start working after lunch.
Cheers!

Many, many years ago -decades?- there was a kit of a little one-room schoolhouse based on the one in San Timoteo Canyon near Redlands, CA. I could use one for my Devore scene. Anyone know who made it and where I could get my hands on one?
I know, a long shot....and I can always scratchbuild it, but have enough on my hands as is...
