Tonight's progress...


I built the first bridge, which will actually be the second one going west.  I decided to stick with the 1/2" plywood for stability.





I still have to secure the approach tracks to the west (left) but I'll do that after I get the scenery base and make any adjustments to align the east bridge.

What's the thread on the furniture glide? I'm guessing something straight forward like 1/4-20 (or likely something metric). I bet you can find some longer bolts to keep around (and forget to bring, of course) in case they're needed.

That said, I really dig this!
I'm glad to see you digging into a project I'm going to get a chance to run on.

In other news...


In digging around in the stacks of stuff, I found the excellent N scale bridge built by @davefoxx for his old Seaboard Central.

I'll need to trim it a bit for length, but I will be perfect to get Mt. Savage Rd across the creek there.

I finished the main infrastructure on the two singles that make up the twin bridges scene at the west end of the Narrows



Also painted the bridges to make them less Kato looking.

Next I'll be doing some terraforming...  aka the fun part!

The C&P bridge is taking shape...


I also trimmed the @davefoxx bridge so it's ready to be put into place.





I stuck with the Atlas stone arches, the bird in hand, and added some old printed brick sheet.  I'll paint the arch blocks to blend with the brickwork, and darken the cap stones to resemble dark granite.
I'm planning to use Sculpy to make the stone bases.  The ROW will be rusted and overgrown.

Working on placement of the other elements.  The @davefoxx bridge has been trimmed to fit for Mt. Savage Road, the basic land forms for US 40 (under the east bridge) and the C&P are roughed in, and the creek bed is established under the west bridge.  I also glued down the arch bridge and aligned the track.



I'll be hitting the foam with the sureform to shape it down to the creek, then adding the west bank next.



The track slopes down a bit from the arch bridge, dropping about a quarter of an inch.  From typical TTrak viewing angles it will be imperceptible..



The C&P branch is a bit snug, but as a non-functional scenery element, I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

I'll have time to work on smoothing out the road and building bridge abutments etc.
Turns out all my supplies (ballast, ground foam, etc.) are still down in the storage unit.  Probably buried a$$-deep.
I won't be able to dig that out till at least the weekend.
I used drywall mud tinted with craft paint for the base.  It will take a while to cure, so that's okay.

It will keep me from getting ahead of myself.  Really, the deadline isn't till N Scale Weekend, so what's the hurry!
