Thanks Peteski! I didn't take it personally and I hope you didn't mind a little jab back.  That thread is really good.

Last night I painted and assembled the basic components of the main wall and added the trim between stories.  the "windows" are not yet adhered. I'm really liking the colors.  Next is weathering and lettering before final construction (including the roof).

I found a couple more interesting pictures of the prototype which lead to me making a couple of decisions.  The first one shows a great "Highlander" beer sign on the Northeast corner.  This was not present later on when I model but it might be too cool to ignore.  Any thoughts?

Well, I do love period signs, and so I'm a bit reluctant to rain on your parade... but you did ask😬
The Flamingo Lounge sign style strikes me as a product of a later, seedier time, perhaps the sixties and seventies. It's obviously a knockoff of Bugsy Siegel's (who was incidentally but not accidentally also knocked off himself) casino and hotel in Vegas. The original forties casino had period-appropriate signage and only the later, cca 1960 rebuild sprouted the flamboyant and distinctive signage (pics below). But, it's your layout (and beautiful handiwork) so please do what pleases you...I have a number of 1954 trucks on my circa 1949 layout....pssst.
I also found a couple of Missoula pics with some very cool signage appropriate for a backdrop "flat". The CocaCola sign just screams to be captured in model form.
Fun stuff, I hope you forgive me....

Otto,

For sure the Flamingo is from a later date.  I just couldn't resist adding it! My modeling date is kind of 1954-5 but I don't hesitate to take a little artistic license.

I love the ghost signs on the old Atlantic Hotel. It was just a bit South of the depot and behind the Park.  I may incorporate it into the backdrop.

Andrew, I totally get it, and an artist you are!
One of the reasons I'm so interested in your Silhoulette hotel project is an old hotel project of my own: The Comet and later Travelers Hotel near the San Bernardino Depot. A similar setting, a once-proud hotel fronting the fine Depot street, later in decline, with a seedy lounge of its own. I've built or mocked up other actual buildings in the vicinity, but can't quite figure out how to do fine filigree details and especially the ornate soffits. I had to shorten the building to fit my city block, kept the key elements, but feel a bit intimidated by the fine detail. Your Park Hotel gives me some ideas...
I do hope you incorporate the Dance/Dine sign, perhaps just shy of the backdrop?

THAT is a great building.  Certainly some challenges there.  I for sure need to do the Dine/Dance sign but I'm not sure how I will do that yet.  Any Suggestions?

Challenges for sure...but fun.
As to your sign, perhaps a photoshopped color image (like the one below with my girlfriend) would do?
And since your building is only an inch thick, I would think laminating the sign to give it some thickness and mounting it almost against the backdrop to avoid shadows should work? A similar approach with the reversed roof sign? With the faded but taller Atlantic hotel sidewall beyond? Unless of course you want to light the signs (which would be incredible) in which case I give up. Oh, just kidding about the girlfriend

Otto,

I like your choice in women!

The photoshopped sign will probably be the way to go.  There is a nice neon sign for the "Double Front Chicken" restaurant adjacent to the hotel which will also need to be done.  That project will be coming soon.

Today was the roof.  A very tedious task.

I glued the "windows" to the back of the wall today.  For this I used spray adhesive on the back of the wall and then carefully aligned the windows and pressed into place.  I also added some light weathering and the signs.  The Highlander sign came out a bit pale which I like.  It's starting to look a little ghosty.  I used regular masking tape for window shades and black tape for the tarpaper roof.  The roof was drybrushed with white and dusted with pastels.  Next I will add the doors.  I'm doing quick phone pictures with crappy lighting so forgive the photo quality.

3d print the filagree and soffits, and craft cut the 2d components. I tried Googling the place but came up with nothing. Apparently either I have lost my ability to keyword search or Google just wants to feed me unrelated junk, for the sake of looking important.

You make this look so easy. Silhouette oughta be paying to promote their wares.

Incredible model.

Two questions

How did you glue the three floors together?

What adhesive did you use to glue the vinyl/glass to the back of the styrene?
