So this is an all new model of a baggage car (not just another paint job on the older Kato baggage car)?  Sweet!
Phase III is my favorite - I'm glad Amtrak brought it back, although I'm not a big fan of the new logo. I prefer the old simple black Helvetica lettering.

This is outside my era, but I think it will have wide appeal given they can run all across the country on modern-era layouts.

It had been very quiet in 2018 from Kato with lots of re-releases, so it's great to see some new tooling from them.

Also outside my era, but we may benefit when our more modern brethren buy these and divest themselves of their "obsolete" heritage fleet baggage cars and coaches.

Attention! MBK now has 'em in stock as of Monday, July 8! Just bought mine a few minutes ago. Other retailers should be getting them any day now.
Enjoy!

Found one at the National Trainshow in SLC and my sons were running it on the FreemoN layout ASAP! Looks really good.

I like how Kato announced this modern era baggage car and it is in our hands in 6 months!

It is interesting which companies can do this and which cannot. Now, Kato does own its production.

I received mine in the mail yesterday afternoon.  A quick question:  has anyone else noticed that the couplers are a bit high on this?  When I hook it up to my P42 (which has stock kato couplers on it), there is quite a bit of difference in coupler height.

I may just cut them off and body mount MT 1015's......

Another question for the Amtrak people out there:  are the trucks dark enough, or should they be painted say an "engine black" color?  For some reason they don't look right to me, but I'm not around these cars enough to really know.

For context, it will go on my Coast Starlight if that makes any difference.

Nate, I'd say the color is okay.  Some black wash on them might help.
