Haven't been to Railwire for years so I hope I chose the right forum.
I've been looking for 3D models for scenery on my project layouts. I've checked websites like Thingiverse and found quite a few. Most of them, however, have detailed underframes and interiors which I don't want. I'm looking for solid models that will print better on my Malyan.
So, anyway, I'm going to have to make my own to get the kind I want. In the past I've used TrainSim Modeler to make 3D objects for Train Simulator. TSM is great, but does not lend itself to creating "waterproof" models I can print. I'm thinking of trying TinkerCAD.
In TSM and other programs you can use "backdrops" and project drawings on them. This enables you to basically trace the drawing in the 3D program. If you've used 3D Canvas you may know what I'm talking about.
Has anyone used TinkerCAD? Does it have a function similar to this?
