There's a saying that "perfect is the enemy of good."  Or in this case, great.  I wouldn't want to see DKS damage or destroy what he's already done in search of that elusive last 1% of perfection when what he's got here absolutely looks the part.  I'm anxious to see the next project!

Looks perfectly fine to me. Plus I doubt it will be your only banged up roof on the layout. Plenty other areas to try different ideas.

I would save a multi angled, different stages of collapse for a large factory roof.

Most excellent. The subtleties in the weathering really make it stand out.

Outstanding, sir!

Outstanding and seeing you have ‘next victim’ is going to be like waiting for the new season of Game of Thrones.  Can’t get enough of seeing your work.

I’m with the camp of leave the roof as is.

I can fully understand why some people might consider the subject matter depressing... but can no one appreciate a sad song? Or a classic film noir? Does every layout need to be the modeling equivalent of a comedy or feel-good action-adventure? I'll admit, I'm likely part of a very small minority that's actually interested in this sort of thing, so I don't find it depressing. I see it as a new challenge to tackle, one that's all the more interesting because it's so rarely done.

I do know about "Trainset Ghetto" and a few others...

This is a very enjoyable thread and very realistic modeling!  Sad song or a film noir is an excellent comparison too.

Agreed.

It's why I've never really gotten into the Thomas Kinkade school of modeling, where everything is clean, business is booming, and there are no problems in the world.

I love modeling stuff that's NOT that. Even my modeling of Conrail in 1985 (when things were going so well the biggest fear was NS trying to take Conrail over) is in the crappy weather season.

I guess that's why I love this so much.

How do you plan to model the falling-apart brickwork and cracks along the mortar seams in the brick wall?

+ 2  This angle  is rarely done and hard to master.  On your layout Ed I love the grimy feel.

Geez Ed, you make it sound like there is nothing between Thomas Kincade kitsch and urban ghetto, when in fact most of our world fits somewhere inbetween; some clean, some a bit worn and some worn out. Well, okay, that may not be true in Conrail country  :P  I enjoy modeling the everyday, the mundane, the stuff of life. And I'm not knocking DKS' work; I admire it, as I do yours. The amazing variety is what makes this hobby great.

What you need here are some abandoned signal bases to go along with the tower or some rusty stripped out skeletons (no lenses, or backs with heads turned 90 degrees).
