Wait, does the red L stand for a leased unit? Is that the one I should pick?Edit: I missed Ed's comment on the first read through. Thanks for this info.James, great pic, if only that wasn't another C32.
Yep 661X = C32-8, 60XX = C39-8The SP leased both, asking with ex ATSF C30-7 in a blue dip paint scheme, and a few of the C30-7, but I think conrail kept the C30-7A in their territory as they were particularly adept to Boston line traffic patterns.CR also leased second hand SD40s in a blue dip scheme asking with C40-8Ws in the 7XX series. These were painted in both CRQ and LMS schemes. They would spend half the year wandering around where needed and then the rest of the time at home when traffic spiked. I believe all C40-8Ws were renumbered by 1997 with the LMS units getting CRQ paint. So if you model 1993-1997 all would be seen on the SP.
There was at least one wreck rebuild with an angled cab roof, but that (or those) were the exception(s) to the rulehttp://conrailphotos.thecrhs.org/Images/CR-6612-at-Fox-Ridge-NY
My poor wallet.
Someone posted over in a Facebook group, that he spoke with a rep from ST at the Plano, TX show. The new N loco is supposed to be a sub $100 loco. Sounds like it might be Operator line of loco.
I didn't think that anybody still produced N scale model locos with MSRP of less than $100.
However looking at the HO ones, its the same body style as the Kato and IM mid productions units.
