Tomytec brick warehouse building

Browsing eBay I found a brick building that might be usable in US-based layouts.

They make it in 2 versions- a "warehouse" with the windows bricked up, and an "engine house" (sometimes translated as "locomotive garage") with windows. I have the warehouse version, the bricks in the window spaces are cast in, but the doors/brick/window parts for the large arches are separate pieces- so you can model them as open arches or as shown in Peteski's picture.

The English on the Box calls it "warehouse A"- there is a "warehouse B" which is a modern steel building with a huge roll up door on one side.

Great kitbashing potential, and it looks very "American".  The only thing that bothers me is the way the cornice wraps around the front and is then squared off- rather like they had originally designed it with smaller rectangular doors and the cornice going all the way across, and then decided to go with the big arches, so you could fit a loco in there.  But....I am NOT going to say it isn't prototypical, because I know if I do, 100 people will post photos of building fronts from New Jersey to LA that look just like it.  As it is, probably 10 people will, just cause I mentioned it.

Since you mentioned it - it looks like it was based on the engine house at Itoigawa, which was a railroad-y landmark in Japan. The warehouse seems to be a reuse of parts from a kit for the engine house (http://www.tomytec.co.jp/diocolle/items/1305/09_tate01.html)

Thanks for those great photos C62-2 - now we have a reference to the prototype building.  Too bad that all that is left is one wall (but it is better than not having anything left).

It occurs to me that the enginehouse version , if doubled up (in length) would make a nifty old-fashioned trainshed for a small passenger station.  Sort of like a simpler version of the St. Albans Vermont station.

The Greenmax building is one of my favorites.  They make it in several variations, and made them as modules, so you can put together as many sawtooth bays as you want.  Different kits come with different accessories like cranes, piping and tanks.  And depending on the exchange rate, you can sometimes pick them up at really good prices.
