I am actually a little surprised at how few layouts based on prototypes in Washington state I have seen.

Despite its ambitious name, actual construction never went beyond King County, the county of which Seattle itself is the seat."

Sold to Henry Villard and renamed the "Columbia and Puget Sound Railroad", renamed the Pacific Coast Railway, bought by the GN but remained under its own name, became part of BN, and now BNSF.  I THINK the MILW had trackage rights over part of it, but wouldn't swear to it.  I know the MILW's electrified track at least crossed it, because there was a note in the early BN Special Instructions about the live overhead.

Ian,  remember Horribly Oversized scale trains bad, Normal scale trans good.  And that is almost as bad as trying to model the Fort Worth & Denver in N scale (or maybe a little worse?).  :? :o :oops: :D

Just remember... you can't model BNSF without the "NS"...

Would be rather easy to model the FW&D in the diesel era, having some F-units into the 60s, EMD GP7s and EMD SD9s in the 70s until absorbed by BN.  Modeling the Colorado & Southern would be harder, what with various modern power that it received...

Jerry:  I've long thought that BNSF-NS would be a natural merger.  They wouldn't even have to change the name! 

BNSF units are quite common on the NS along the Big Sandy river in West Virginia.
