On the subject of adhesives, I've been very happy using 3M Super 77 Multipurpose Adhesive. It's a spray on, and dries "quick and clear," just like it says on the label. I only started using it a few months ago, so I can't testify as to how it will hold up over the long run, but I've been encouraged so far.

If this may be an indication, 3m 77 is used when a pool table felt is re stretched over the slate. Watched a fellow re felt my 7' Valley single piece 3/4" slate in about 20 minutes.  Gawd, I miss that table.

While I don't know what software Doug used, the ancient Corel Photo Paint 10 (part of the full Corel Graphic Suite), is capable of all those tricks. Plus Corel Draw is great for vector-based decal artwork  and all sorts of graphic tasks. That runs on my old Win98SE machine on which I run my Alps printer.  I also have Corel 12 installed on a Windows 7 laptop.  Either version of those programs is fairly vintage (although quite capable) and can be purchased for short money (on eBay or Amazon for example).

The camera was Iphone 6.  The software I used to square up the images is Photoshop, although I suspect most photo editing software should be able to do similar.  In Photoshop, turn on the grid in the view menu, select the image area, in the edit menu - use transform/distort.  You can now pull the handles to change the shape until the edges are parallel with the grid.  It may take a few moves to get it right, and be mindful of not changing the overall proportions.  Here are some images from a tutorial I have on doing the same for signs in the current Railroad Model Craftsman:

Photoshop also has a 'lens correction' tool that could be useful when dealing with issues like distortion and perspective.

I believe for the sign I used the PS magic wand tool to select the sign area.  It probably took several clicks to capture the entire sign.  It can also be done with the lasso tool or careful use of the eraser.  For the building, I did not bother to isolate the walls from the background.  I just cut those out with the knife.
