Micro-Trains True Scale Couplers. They couple closer than most other systems.

I'm pretty sure he means MT' True Scale Couplers. Yes, nice train, but the cars do look too far apart...

Mine is a long time off. I'm building a US Army equipment move in Germany.
When my ex deployed from Baumholder, They moved all the equipment out by rail. The last train out of Baumholder is the one i'm modeling, Circa 2010. The cargo was basically all the remaining equipment that didn't make it on the other trains. So it was a mix of tracked, wheeled, and conexs.
The Consist is a BR232 "Ludmilla", with a string of heavy duty Flat cars in tow, With a single DB coach for the Escorting troops. I am having some issue finding reassonably priced Modern US armor and other US military equipment.

I’ve worked with Nick. The TSCs. Tend not to hold together on long trains even when at the proper height on all cars. We’re still Experimenting but currently for long trains regular couplers work better. We could do Z scale couplers but those have other challenges on our club layout.

I started to install True Scale Couplers. They are not reliable enough for a 30+ year old layout. I am looking to body mount the couplers in the future.

I use z scale couplers to bring the cars closer together and add American Limited diaphragms to close the gap.

Apologies Nick, it was not my intention to goad you into TSC's, if that's what I did. I myself wouldn't use them in this kind of a scenario; I'm glad MT made them and I think they are a fine choice for the occasional locomotive pilot or observation car, or an exquisite contest quality model, but not as a standard coupler, especially if running on less then perfect trackage (which is not rare).

I was commenting on a favorite peeve of mine, cars (and engines) too far apart to look right. MT is not the only culprit here, Atlas does it too, and Intermountain covered wagons, OMG, one could drive a Buick between them.

Perhaps body mounting an MT or other coupler at the right distance, depending on minimum radius desired, would solve the problem without resorting to unreliable coupling? Just a thought. As they come, the troop sleepers don't look right IMHO when coupled, see below, and a trainload of them just amplifies the issue.

So the coupler isn’t the problem, the layout is. The trackwork isn’t within a spec range that is compatible with the scale size of the TS Coupler.

Yes the coupler still is the problem. We work with n scale. It doesn't take much to uncouple these with vertical movement, especially over atlas c55 frogs. I wish MT would have expanded on the z-scale 905 coupler line instead of these.
I can't make them reliable enough for my own use with long trains and helper operations.

Hey Karl,
We've been going over track work and replacing and repairing as needed. I have found that 1023's will do the trick on closing up the gaps on the diaphragms. I just need to find time to drill and tap every car on this train.
