Curious marketing. The one prototype phot is of a truss tod car but none of the artwork is. If I were a collector I might jump. Otherwise, hard to tell exactly what you're getting. At that price, I don't take those risks.

CG N Scale does a car too, available via Shapeways, but the bracing is very different from the drawings pictured. Those look more like the HO scale Athearn car. Maybe Athearn has secretly stashed an N scale pickle somewhere.

It's been "un-printable" for a while now.  In the few years it was printable and available, I only had one person buy it, so I didn't even bother fixing it once it was flagged.

Is this 1 one piece , or do those tubs come out so they can be painted a contrasting color before assembly ?

They were 4 individual parts, the flatcar body was included, and the roof and each support section were also individual parts.

Pretty much. But they are so cute and attractive!   
There still is a collectors market for stuff like that. I like Heinz 57 items and I'm seriously considering pre-ordering at least couple of those cars.

Dave:  I believe the "pickle cars" were primarily used to haul cucumbers to the pickle plants, not to ship pickles to stores.  Those would have gone in barrels or jars, depending on the quantity and era.

I was commenting more on the sloppy marketing. For all that money you'd think the vendor could spend some time accurately representing what the customer will get. Maybe the illustrations are accurate, but the narrative should explain how the proto photos relate; and the narrative and illustrations should jive. Like if there are truss rods where are they in the illustration?

Perhaps @NSEGeorge could chime in about what flat car is being used as MTL doesn't make the car described in the write up.  The artwork shows a fishbelly car which would preclude truss rods I believe.

Here's an AMB pickle car that I built several years ago.



Not a "shake the box" kit.  I recall that the tank wrappers and bands were a challenge.  Also, my first encounter (many since) with pressed paper structural components.

Still, all in all, a fun way to a unique prototype car.
