An Alco C425 makes more sense than the C424, given that Atlas has an HO model of the prototype and that Life Like released an N scale version of the C424.

I don't think it's either one though.

Let's say I'm a bit sensitive to this issue. I was more or less put on notice last weekend that ScaleTrains.com is mulling a DD35, although that rumor was propagated by an HO'er, shame on him. Considering that I have a fistful of Bachmann DDA40Xs explicitly purchased for a fleet of DD35s using a Shapeways shell, it would be my luck to finish the project only to have a commercial version blow mine out of the water.

We live in heady times. I'm looking forward to Atlas' announcement, whatever it is, whether it's useful to me or not!

I really hope Shane is mulling a DD35! It will go nicely with my OMI DD40AX! I too have the parts to chop a DD35B, but I won't start if that happens to be the case over at ScaleTrains.

I agree that its not likely to be either.

I will say however that I hope the Lifelike C-424 is not a deterrent to anyone.
It represents a very specific early phase of production (correct for only a couple prototypes iirc)
The model was not produced in great numbers... ...and it is not likely to ever be produced again with half of the tooling being owned by Walthers and the other half by Canadian Hobbycraft.

There is most definitly still a void for a later phase C424 (including a Canadian version like Atlas produced in HO)

One correction, Atlas makes both a C424 (2 different phases) and a C425 in HO scale...

"the two models that are really needed in N scale right now are the GG1 and the F7"  Well, since we know it is a diesel, I am going to figure a CNW F7 with the engineer's controls reversed for left hand running.

I guess you missed the totally tongue-in-cheek nature of that post.  Hint: BLI.

New Atlas loco: What about an SW1200?

It was quite popular with over 1,000 produced and Atlas would have a myriad of paint schemes (original owners) to choose from.

I for sure would buy some. IMHO we do need more switchers in N-scale. YMMV.

What is wrong with the Kato GG1? I for sure like mine.

Oh, it's not sound in an existing loco.  It's a new body that has never been done in N scale plastic.

Implies that it has been done in N scale Brass OR Plastic in HO or O
Has Atlas done it in HO (RS32/36)??? or O (RSD7/15)????

But neither the Kato GG1 or the Bachmann GG1 moo like a cow.

This was meant as a snarky dig at the sound-equipped stock cars from BLI as well as the BLI GG1 (which will be the fourth N scale GG1 in an already saturated market).

What about an Alco S1?

Not something I need, but I've always had a soft spot for them and could be persuaded to by one.

No, I did not miss it, I was ALSO referencing the message (AtlasPaul, I think) that it would be a diesel never done in N scale plastic.  The "left of way" cab arrangement was the only F7 I could think of that had not already been done.

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.

We wanted to inform you that Atlas will not be producing a six-month catalog for the period of July-December 2017.  After much consideration and debate, Atlas has decided to transition solely to a printed and electronic monthly catalog format in order to best keep our Distributor & Dealer network--as well as our customers—informed about the latest announcements and arrivals of Atlas products.

This change is in part due to the time constraints of catalog production. A rigorous manufacturing schedule forced us to omit certain information from the six-month catalog, such as pricing or new models/features that would help to sell the product.   Our new model will allow us to work up to the last minute to obtain this information and disseminate it to our valued customers.

Well a big thumbs down from me as I relied on the PDFs.
