She may be only five years old, but, with my help reading the buttons, she can handle an NCE throttle and carefully operate her North Pole Express train:

Haha!  Funny that you wrote that.  My wife had Aly in a shirt this weekend that said, "Girls rule - boys drool."  Man, I just can't win.  ;)

On another note, Aly and I were revisiting the future track plan tonight.  Stay tuned.

Very cool!

My two five year olds are helping me freshen up the Modutrak Wausau staging yard.  It's in need of some scenic TLC.  It's actually given me a bit of a jolt to model again!

Apparently, Aly has become impatient with my progress on her layout, so she has begun finishing it herself:

The Smurf houses are a nice touch.

Why not?  As the old saying goes, it's her layout!  And at her age using her imagination is an important part of learning, often neglected in formal education.

Like I said in the WU thread: I like it!
A Thomas train set with Annie and Clarabel would also look good on that layout.

Enjoy it while you can.  It won't be long before you find her running 6 trains with a phone app, and correcting your weathering jobs for the hue of the dust color of a particular county in Arizona.

A good idea.  She would probably like that.

Thanks,

That, actually, would be awesome.

Wait a year or two and show her Kathy Millat's videos on youtube.  She'll learn a ton, and from a female MRR.
