@Dave V, I’ll get my wife to look at that chip and see what she thinks.  I was thinking of finding a green that coordinates well with the Medium Green SuperLeaf material that I use for my trees.

Well...the color I used isn't a green. It's more of a brown/gray. It might work for you but I think something with a little more green would be better. Just nothing too bright. No kelly green or forest green.

I like this color. On the layout picture it looks greenish to me, but not in the sample image. Either way, it disappears. Which is exactly what you want.

I didn't even look at the colors name, but it turns out it was called "black bamboo".

I think a good starting point would be my tree foliage, which is a medium green (at least, that’s what the SuperLeaf package says):

I think my kudzu “spring green” is too bright.

That’s an interesting article.  Thanks for sharing!  I’ll have to get my wife’s opinion on Go Away Green or No See Um Gray.

A lot of people like black. Personally, I prefer something like olive green. Its less harsh and just kinda disappears.

Hahahahah. I was just about to go google "Go Away Green" and then...

Continuing on with the urban improvement project, I finished putting all of my downtown Aberdeen buildings together to prepare them for paint.  What a difference just putting roofs and applying a coat of primer makes.  I should have done this a few years ago.  But, unfortunately, only one of the buildings will allow me to paint the windows and doors separately.  D’oh.

Truthfully, I did glue the abutting buildings together, so they can be installed on the layout in groups that will be easier to keep in place.  At this point, the plan is not to permanently glue them to the layout.  Ramping up the level of difficulty, I had to scribe the large block of buildings to the sidewalks.  They rocked between 1/8” and 1/4”, until I took the random orbit sander to the bottom of the structures.  I ground away at least 1/8” in one spot and tapered out other areas.  They’re sitting down on the pavement nicely now.

Tonight, I applied primer to the furniture warehouse on top of the hill.  The building in town at left got its coat of paint to become brick.  All other buildings in this section of the prototype downtown Aberdeen are painted.  I will do red brick on the furniture warehouse.

Fine paint marker or sharpie would feel more authentic though.

I painted the white trim work this morning.  Sometimes, peeling off the masking is like Christmas morning.  I’m an impatient painter, but it came out okay.  I had to go with white, because the kit has separate windows and doors with the “glass” already welded to the frames.  They cannot be painted.  I’ve never seen a kit like that before.  On one hand, it’s nice that the windows don’t have to be individually masked (like the rest of my buildings), but, on the other, I hope the white plastic window frames look okay.

I’ll let the red and white paint cure for a few days and then try to do the mortar with lightweight spackling.  That worked well on the little garage I repainted a few months ago.  The other building that’s still in primer will be tan.
