The green Beetle is an early split window. (pre 52) The 3D print is at least pre-66. I don't think a real split would be that color from the factory. It would be a more light olive green. A pre-66 could be a darker green though. Doesn't matter really just say it is a re-paint.

There is an old VW ad that says something like "how do you make a 50 beetle look like a 60?  You paint it"

Haha!  that's what was so cool about the original Beetle.  Not many changes over decades, because it was such an iconic design.

Since I'm colorblind, can y'all give me any guidance on weathering colors in addition to the base color?

Without looking at every color they offer, I found 3 on the Matte sprayable chart from Tru-color   436, 448, 454

Right, no metallic colour as an original for a beetle of that age.

Ageing is inevitable - maturity is optional.

I used the paint that I could scrounge up and went with red.  I just applied a flat clear coat after painting the model.  Up next, weathering.  In the meantime, this is about the spot that this Bug will come to die when this project is complete.  I’ll even sink it into the ground a little.

That green came out perfect

Also now that I see the back elephant foot taillights it looks after 1972, but I don't see vents on the side. Maybe it is just a mut bug.

To this red-green colorblind guy, it did!  I’m not sure where @John got the print design, but I’m guessing mutt bug, too.

And this is where this punchbuggy came to live out the rest of its days:

This is all still soaking wet, but I’ll blend the static grass clumps in with some fine turf ground foam when it all dries.

Man, you really must be color blind.  That's no where close to the colors on my chart. 🤣
