Thanks again!   :)

I'm thinking a similar sign should go on the other street frontage as well? For balance and exposure?

I dunno, don't want it to look cliche like a wild west town. This is a small backwoods town in Ohio around 1920. My hotel just says "ROOMS" and the saloon next door will just get a low key sign on the window glass.

This is a company store:

A narrow gauge railroad spur once ran into the basement. Here it is back then:

No sign at all.

I should hope that saloon sign is low key as the Volstead Act went into effect in 1920!

Lol, that's pretty funny.
And yes, I see your point Chris, I keep forgetting this is the Midwest...

So I've been working on this  :)  The weather wasn't nice to the old layout and all my small layouts are too small to run anything more than a 0-4-0 on. So I did some re-building and narrowed it down to a 2x5' layout. I'm using some very rare Micro Engineering code 55 HOn30 flextrack that I found one single pack of at a show. I asked Micro engineering if they could re-run this track and they told me I need to buy 3000 pieces and it would have to be code 70, not happening.

First I've been 3D printing the heck out of the 2-6-0 I started. Now the boiler, cab, and running boards are all printed in one piece. New pilot printed. Whole new tender printed. The tender has a brass wrapper around it. Tender trucks are Atlas S2 diesel trucks.

The town side of the layout:

Starting with the company store:

The post office - hotel - saloon:

Blacksmith:

Small freight depot and some company houses in the background.

Around the corner we get a water fall and a curved trestle similar to the Mann's Creek tank trestle.

The other side will just be 2 small coal mines with a road cutting through the center.

All the building so far are scratchbuilt. The water tank is a way cut down Atlas tank with a scratchbuilt base. Made trestle bents today to get that area roughed in.

The coal mine on the right will be cut out of this old small layout of mine:

I'm gonna cut the whole corner out:

God damn this whole thing reminds me of the Wanamie stuff!

If you haven't seen it, it's all over the promo video:

So that nice big layout at the start of the thread is no more?

This is my sad face:   :|

But yeah, I remember you had some issues with track buckling.  I kind of take for granted that humidity isn't something I have to plan for.  If I ever do move my RGS back East or down South, I'm gonna need more rail gaps!

Love the new loco too.
