Yep a lay shaft and 2 spur gears up to the motor.

Her is my first try at the body. The primer wasn't a full coat and the photo is bad, but hey it fits on the first print!

Jumping around with so many projects going at once.

I got the Davenport body adjusted so the Toma power chassis will fit right in. Two long screws with washers fit into notches on the chassis, then go through the couplers and into the body.

Yep. They just press into the wheel centers. I gotta figure out a side rod and get some pins to mount it.

The whole thing printed really nice and the counterweights are pretty slick.

I could probably help you out with some rods.  I can laser cut some in 0.020" steel and ream the crankpin holes to the size you need.  PM me with the wheelbase and crankpin hole size.  I'll cut and process them and send them out to you ASAP. 

Can't wait to see it running!

They are clocked like Flavor Flav is clocked       I imagine they are 90 degrees like a steam locomotive, but you can't see both sides at one time. As for the model both wheels are driven so the side rods will just be along for the ride. It won't be super critical that they are perfect.

I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't quartered.

The reason steam engines are is to keep the actual engines working (ie, neither is at top dead center at any time) since the rods are connected to the valve gear.

With a diesel that's just using rods to transfer motor created power at low speeds, I don't think that same thing is needed.

Assuming that only one of the wheelsets is powered by the Diesel motor (because if both wheelsets were powered there would ne no need for siderods), and the siderods drive the other axle, then the forces involved would be the same as for a steam loco.  90 deg.  apart.

they had a 283 and an oil filter was an option
